Why do they let them work on the cars during a red flag?
Makes no sense to me.

No changing tires and no repairs would make things
a little more reasonable and maybe the goons
would be more careful.
But that wouldn't make for good TV, would it?

A long, long time ago I was a fan of the NBA.
Then one day I realized I didn't have to watch the entire game,
just the last minute of it (which BTW took 15 minutes to play).
Playing well during the game and building up a big lead was wasted effort, by design the game
would effectively negate the lead with all the time-outs, clock stoppages, etc.
F1 has unfortunately taken that same ignorant path.

The idea I believe is there's been a crash, you could be driving on debris (picked up by a hot tire) and that could cause a dangerous puncture down the road.
Now should you be able to change compound ? Car repairs ? I'm in agreement with you, probably not. Also I find the standing restart gimmicky and it tends to cause more red flags. Restart single file, that's close enough !

Yea, it seems weird to start so early, and then have a "spring break" for so long.

Yea, I suspect like all F1 racing teams are always working on improvements, behind closed doors. The fans never see it.

We just want to see the race on track.

Me too, me too!

It never stops...if you stop or even pause for a few days you get left behind it's hard just maintaining position and incredibly hard/almost impossible to catch teams in front of you

Every team is busy designing/manufacturing areodynamic/mechanical updates for this seasons races

Also being worked on in parallel is the design of next year's car and even simulating/laying out the design as far ahead as the new regulation 2026 cars

Sadly for the fans I don't think any team would agree to a behind the scenes Netflix type show, it would cost them too much of a competitive advantage

Totally understand the last bit. No one is going to give away their blood, sweat, and tears for the sake of entertainment. It would be stupid really. But its fun to ask.

Your point about a daily pause even making a difference is eye opening.

Geezus. I doubt if the apology and sacking will fend off a hefty lawsuit from the family.
Seems we're going to have to be reminded of this tragedy on a fairly regular basis. I can't imagine what his wife goes through.

I heard the debris argument in the last race or two (its been so long I don't remember which). Total bollocks if you ask me.

The problem I have with it is one driver pits a lap or two before SC or VSC or Red Flag. They get penalized, especially on Red Flag, when all competitors get to change tires without having a 20+ second pit stop and remain in their position above the unlucky sod that pitted under green flag.

This break has really sucked. I've been pretty ambivalent recently about the races and this isn't helping.

Yea, every red flag is long enough to inspect the tires carefully. If indeed they find damage, they can change tires with the identical tire, so they still have to come in for a pit stop during the race. There has to be a better system than the red flag lottery of free tire changes. And there should be 100% no adjustment to the aero setting. Anything that can't be done without a pit stop is forbidden.

I thought a month long break was goofy then heard it was cause the Chinese GP was cancelled, made more sense but a lot of teams needed this break. Maybe things will be closer mid pack and maybe some changes up front too.
I'm looking for Lance to do something, the wrist should be a non-issue, lots of experience, finally a decent car, it's time to earn your ride or step aside. IMO

It's a pretty funny rumor but I think they should give it a shot anyway. She's only 8 years younger

I flew out of Houston on Monday and almost every girl I saw had a Taylor Swift T-shirt or sweatshirt on from the weekend's concerts. I can't imagine how much money she brings in.
