When I was growing up we had an English Bulldog named Igor. He loved ice cubes. This was in the days before automatic ice makers, at least in our house. So if someone was cracking into a ice tray, he came running and demanded an ice cube and would bark until fed a cube.
Our back yard neighbor was a friend, and spent time in our house and he said he was getting ice in his own house and Igor heard it, and barked until he came out and fed him an ice cube. For Igor's first birthday they bought him a bag of ice.
In later years when my parents finally got a new fridge the freezer had an automatic ice maker. More than a few people would help themselves to some ice, and then in a terrified voice ask why the dog was barking, two barks while looking directly at them. We told them he was saying ice cube. The gave him an ice cube, and Igor was happy.
