MotoGP '23

Two weeks until it starts but man is it going to be a tough season. There are now 21 races plus the addition of the sprint race on Saturdays.

This is going to be very tough on the riders.

The electronics that the new bikes have are unreal. For instance, they can squat on the straights to aid in top speed. But Aero is the big new thing. It's interesting to see the innovations but I wonder if this will end up having stringent rules like F1 and bikes with bodywork so heavily regulated that they become indistinguishable from each other to the casual fan?

Ducati faced some finger wagging when they pushed the development of the "wings" as well as the air scoop that feeds air to the rear tire. The Doctor once complained about all the gismoz saying that it's just too much.

IIRC he once quipped "what's next GPS braking?".

Now that 200 mph is routinely achieved on the 1K straights I can see needing to limit development just due to the limits of the riders.

I'd say let the skill of the riders shine rather than the advanced machine.

The video guy needs a new microphone. With his accent I couldn't understand a word. What were the high points of his video? That bikes now have wings? That might be a bit much.

Dorna should ban all the wings and aero tricks. The bikes are looking freakish and it just costs tons of money in RD

What’s the Marquez status? Is he healthy?

IDK they are tight lipped about him. He didn't do all that well last season but many thought he needed more time. This year will be the test. The new kids coming up are FAST and smart.

I saw a pic of him in the gym and his arm looks like a jigsaw puzzle! IDK the exact nature of his injury but dang they carved him up.

Pol Espargaro got hurt today, not sure how bad but they said back and lung injuries.

MM will need to dig deep for Quali.

I'm very interested in seeing how the sprint impacts the riders. 42 races is a lot of stress.

Captain Ahab Jr 03-25-2023 04:28 AM

Wow, pole position wasn't what I was expecting
