You must be way ahead of the MotoGP broadcast. The main class hasn't qualified yet. I'm just watching the sprint now.

Wow and here I thought I was seeing it all in real time. :(

So, if you please post a spoiler note first. Please.

edit: my bad. I got the schedule mixed up.

Captain Ahab Jr 03-25-2023 07:58 AM

Keep up Flatbutt, I won't post up anymore spoilers

Had a good discussion this week with one of the best F1 aero engineers in the business and we both agreed all the new aero development war going on in Moto GP is bad news for shoulder to shoulder racing

Did you see the sprint? I enjoyed that.

Not yet, trying to find the best channel on Youtube

Marquez should quit racing before he kills somebody. He doesn't have it anymore.

herr_oberst 03-26-2023 07:08 AM

I agree.

flatbutt 03-26-2023 11:00 AM

MMs move was very dangerous. I think he's trying to race with his old body instead of the one he has. He pulled a double long lap penalty. I'm not a racer so I don't have anything but an observer's opinion.

4 riders out for this weekend. Can you imagine if 4 F1 drivers (or 4 drivers from any series) were hurt at the first race of a new season?

I hope this is an anomaly. I'm not interested in seeing human carnage.

IMHO the sprint will make things worse. More wear on the riders and more opportunity for crashes. It is also my opinion that in trying to get more fans in the stands on Saturday that Dorna has not fully considered rider safety.

Maybe they should allow for sprint specialists or maybe let the test riders pilot the sprints. I'd bet that Pirro and Pedrosa would jump on that.

Horrible move by MM.

Good to see the Younger making his way up. It seems that the bike really suits him.

herr_oberst 04-01-2023 11:31 AM

I'm not happy watching Quartararo struggle like he is. The Euro bikes have really surpassed the Japanese brands - even KTM is looking strong.

It makes me wonder about Toprak (and Jonathan Rea) over in WSB. Maybe the same thing is happening. Ducatis making everyone look like a hero?

flatbutt 04-01-2023 12:28 PM

Perhaps. There's no denying Ducatis edge but it still comes down to the rider. Remember Stoner was the only one that could ride that beast back in '07 '08. So, Gigi really made a huge difference.

I'm very impressed with the development of the KTM and Aprilia.

MotoGP racing is a palette cleanser for other junk in the racing world.

Brilliant stuff in Argentina.

herr_oberst 04-02-2023 03:28 PM

I'm not really a big fan of the wet races, but, my god, the fact that those guys take those machines out on sloppy tracks never fails to amaze me!!!

I liked racing in the rain at certain tracks. It took participating in a really dangerous sport to a absurd level and was really fun.
Watching mgp today I am struck by how smooth those guys really are. I know the electronics do their thing, but how they tip in and shift their bodies was a lesson in smooth.

herr_oberst 04-12-2023 08:42 AM

Toprak to MotoGP in '24? I'd like to see that. He's got a great personality, plus, he's a wizard on the bikes. His balance and braking are on a whole 'nother level.

Hope it works out.
