Well, it did take 2 minutes. If you don't want to waste another minute and a half, start at 1:30.

Sure they do, but the solenoid that actuates the lock is controlled by the computer in a push button start vehicle. If you control the computer, you control the vehicle.

Solution to that is a hidden kill switch that kills power to the fuel pump.

Not so fast there, hoss. Do that a likely a code goes to the ECU's and once the power to the pump is restored after a violation or simply forgetting and trying to start the car might end up being a tow.

Just surmising. Cars are way too complicated now for simple solutions.

A Porsche is faster than a Rav4 in every way. Remember the movie "Gone in 60 seconds."

At work, some of my team members went to a convention in which hackers were able to fully take control of a Tesla remotely. Imagine the possible negative outcomes! Scary stuff.

No doubt, a pro will steal the car no matter what the owner does. That is what insurance is for.

Back in the early 1980s one of the members in our local region had a 930 and was out driving on a pretty Saturday. He realized his anniversary was the next day, so he stopped at the mall to get a present for his wife. He had all the high tech alarms and a pager that would alert him if the alarm was going off on the car. He said he got inside the mall a bit and the pager was alerting him. He ran outside, and saw his car getting dragged up into a box truck, with the alarm going off.

The thiefs had poured diesel fuel on the ground, tied a chain to the front suspension, and used a winch to drag the car inside the truck. He said he maybe could have run over there, but there were three large men and he was not James Bond and going to whip them all, and they may well have had guns, and he would be injured. He just watched as his car was driven away. He called 911, but they never saw the truck. His insurance replaced the car and life went on. He said we all have fantasies of going over and beating the thiefs senseless and calling the cops, but reality is he was not capable of that, and not realistic.
