I was lucky enough to see Chuck Berry play live, just once, and he killed it. '89 or '90. The energy was unreal and he played a 45 minute version of JBG or Nadine (I honestly can't remember - I want it to be Nadine, but it was probably JBG).
I have a real appreciation for the track he laid for future players, but in the same way that I appreciate Lloyd Ruby or Jim Hurtubise, my favorite drivers are still going to be Emmo and Rick Mears, and the same is true for Rock and Roll. My guys and girls are from my era!

Though I do appreciate the nuanced lyrical song-stylings of Skuzz Twitley, I favor his more introspective counterpart, Ray Wylie Hubbard.

The first song I remember hearing was Elvis sing "Ain't Nothin But A Hound Dog" back in 56... Being 3 at the time anything about dogs caught my attention..
The next song was "The Purple People Eater" Song by Sheb Wooley in 58. Obviously Purple People eaters caught my attention being 5.. The single that sealed the deal with me being a Stones man was... "Get Off My Cloud" in 65. But the song that I could relate to as being my anthem for many years was the Stones"Gimme Shelter." Many of the songs mentioned here have a lot of curb appeal...and can easily qualify..there are a few others that I think deserve mention are the Stones "Jumping Jack Flash" which was the single that served as the jumping off point for their most memorable period..68 through 72... The Stones "Cock Sucker Blues" from 70, then AC DC's "It Is A Long Way To The Top If You Want To Rock And Roll" from 76, The Troggs "Wild Thing" from 66, Bowie's "Panic In Detroit," J Cash's "Hurt" and The Animals "House Of The Rising Sun" from 64. BUT THE QUINTESSENTIAL BEST SINGLE IS... LOUIE LOUIE by the Kings Men in 63... Of course it takes TABS to tell ya what is what.......
