Thunder Hill, Laguna.
I like Laguna, the drop after the corkscrew makes the car feel fast.

Speaking of track days, has anybody looked at prices?

PCA at VIR and Road Atlanta in June are $650 and $600 respectively, for non-PCA members. PCA members are $50 less.

On second thought, I was just at Roebling Road and it was $500, so maybe VIR and Road Atlanta are not such a bad deal after all.

Putting my grouchy old man hat on, I remember we used to pay $350 for VIR and Road Atlanta.

motorsports ranch Houston, motor sports ranch Cresson, Texas world speedway, grandsport speedway, Harris hill, Nürburgring

not a track rat unfortunately, just a few times on most of these tracks. My kids are getting old enough that I hope to be able to road trip to a few more tracks, newly purchased cayman will be a willing partner hopefully.

Probably 100 autocross layouts as well I guess.

Is that for the weekend or just one day? I’ve been doing one day events with various run groups for $125-250 for the last 7-8 years. BMW CCA events were $300-400/weekend when I was doing them between 2000-2007.

Tracks:
Thunderhill East, West, and 5 Mile
Buttonwillow, both directions
Big Willow and Streets
Laguna Seca

Now that I live in Michigan, I’ve only driven Gingerman. Hope to do Grattan, Waterford Hills, Mid-Ohio and a few more in the near future.

That’s for the weekend. Between 2000 and 2008 we used to go to VIR, Road Atlanta, etc and pay $350-400 for the weekend.

You should try crawling up the 33º banking. They have a rescue team at each end with repelling gear to go over the wall should a car get left up there after a wreck and there is an emergency. Most don't stay up there, they slide down to the apron.

A wrecker can't hook up a car in the middle of the banking up high. It almost never happens anyway. I've never seen it done.

I raced in SCCA for several years with an ITB BMW 2002 but haven’t been on track since my kidney transplant in 2008. I recently bought an EProd 914-6 roller and am prepping it for the 2024 season.

Tracks
Summit Point
Pocono
Watkins Glen
Nelson Ledges
VIR

Mine is the red/white 02 on the inside. VIR.
