Thieves use Wi-Fi jammers to disable home security system
Apparently, this is becoming more widespread as security systems like Ring, SimpliSafe, Blink, etc. that rely on Wi-Fi connections for cameras and sensors have become more popular.

One of the reasons I still use hardwired security cameras and home alarm systems although I use Blink so I can communicate verbally is necessary which will not work in the situation described.

Alarm systems are just like door locks. They stop casual theft, and amateurs. A pro thief will overcome just about anything shy of Ft. Knox.

Years ago, I was thinking about doors getting kicked in and thought "it would be great if there was multiple bolts or bolts on both sides of the door." THat's when I discovered that there are special pins that you can replace the hinge screws with that add more security on the hinge side of the door. Then I realized, in an ordinary house, that's probably unnecessary hassle since a regular house is full of windows that can be broken, and 9 times out of 10, the back door has glass in it that can be broken to allow someone to reach in and open the door. Even if you have both sides of every deadbolt keyed, and you don't leave the key on the inside permanently, there's still the windows. As with most other things, if a thief isn't targeting you specifically because they know you have some specific item that they want, you need to make yourself less appealing than your neighbor (alarm, dog, lights, etc...).

Yea, I am NOT a drug dealer, money launderer, or big time flashy operator. My cars always are parked in the garage, and locked!
I do have security cameras, and a large sign saying you are on surveillance and the signs from the security system. I know that will not stop a pro, but there I hope a pro will look for a bigger target than me.

1 smash and grab (methheads, crackheads, losers looking for a little quick cash) 2 organized groups using more sophisticated tools methods to get bigger scores 3 inside jobs (workers, contractors, visitors, etc...) that discovered that there's a certain item that they want and could relatively easily get because they know the details of the target My guess is that group #1 could use pillow cases.

Not surprising. In a way, actually very smart. The target provides it's own bags. That is one less thing that the person is carrying that appears to be tools of the trade if they are seen before hand.

I also saw on the news, that thieves are putting Infra Red light sources on their head, and it messes with the IR viewing of the camera at night. Blinds the camera.
![]() My moms house was burglarized, and they used the bed sheets to load up the stash.

Another reason to have motion activated lights.
