George Clooney uses something like that and always does his own hair.

I have gone to the same stylist lady since she got divorced and moved here from Palm Springs 30 years ago or so. My wife knew her as a new stylist that worked at the salon where my wife got her hair done.

She a very pretty lady. She found a new husband, and after several years, had a daughter. When she was pregnant was the first time in her life she got over to be 100 pounds. Now her daughter is about to graduate from high school.

My wife's stylist died a couple of years ago, so now she goes to the same lady that cuts my hair.

To be honest, I don't know what her rate is. She has never mentioned a price increase, and I just pay her $35 to cut my hair, trim my beard, trim my eyebrows, and ears. So just spin the chair, and start cutting!

She is very easy on the eyes, and very pleasant to chat with. Her husband is easily 6'3" and an architect and home builder. She owns the business and has a couple of ladies cutting hair there.

Not long ago I saw the check some lady had written her for her appointment just before mine. I have no idea what all she did to the lady, but the check was $185! it made my check seem cheap.

I'd buy a flow-bee off Amazon before I paid $100 for a haircut.

I see the 'Sports Cuts' places around here are always busy. They have certain 'requirements' for hiring the hair-dressers.

I was cutting my own hair since 19. Have had it long and sort of businessman's, but never short. After shoulder surgery that was over so I let it grow. And that Covid thing. When it touched my shoulders my wife stepped in. The thing is, she has a license. But that don't mean she can cut men's hair.

She even went to Vidal Sassoon. But she quit hair salons in the 80's. Not a good life.

My shoulder works better now so I can keep up with a little help in the back (where I can't see anyway).

Around here all the barber shops seem to be run by middle eastern guys and they always do "fade" haircuts, wog boy haircuts or gangsta haircuts. None of which would suit me. And the $50 place I mentioned. No, I'd rather keep the $50.

Had the same girl cutting my hair for about 20 yrs. Was paying $30 last time she cut few yrs ago. When I retired and stopped working in NYC, I started transitioning to a local place here, but would still go back to her now and then, when I went back to the city to visit my family. She always told me I was cheating on her going to someone else.

Now I go to a local shop here Few months ago I was paying $16. They raised their prices to $23 last month. Big jump. My wife's best friend is a hairdresser, I can get mine cut for free from her, but not exactly thrilled how she cuts it.

^^^ That's about exactly the jump I've seen around here.
It's surely going to affect their business...including the tips.

Begin geezer voice "why back in my day as a kid, dad would give me 50 cents to ride my bike to the barber shop. 35 cents for the haircut, which was simply cut everything 1/4 inch long, and then I kept the other15 cents to go next door to the barber shop to the drug store to buy a 12 cent Superman comic book and some candy." End Geezer voice.

His rule was if he pays for the haircut, he gets to determine length. I started mowing yards so I could let it grow to almost touch my ears. He said I looked like a girl, but I paid for the haircut! It was never allowed to touch my collar or my ears. I have never had long hair.

Mine was longer than Crosby's in the 70's. My father was not happy and I don't blame him. It wasn't until the 80's when I finally cut it to above my shoulders.

I usually cut my hair myself with trimmers and my wife does my neckline. I did find a gal at a local Sport Clips that does a great job cutting my hair. She usually has 2 or 3 customers on the waiting list while other employees have none - I'm pretty certain it's because she is very easy on the eyes.

I started cutting my own hair during the pandemic. Still cutting it to this day. My wife says she can’t tell the difference between what I do and what a barber does. Not sure that’s a vote of confidence or not.

We have a place here - on the barrier island - about a mile from my home - $5 per cut.

Yes, in and out in about 5 minutes.

I usually give her a $10 and a "Thanks....see you next time."

The older I get, the more I appreciate things that don't consume whatever time I have left!
