Time Life World War II.
Inspired by magazine thread.
Anybody remember these? My dad had a subscription. Every several months a new BOOK would arrive. As a kid, this really shaped my view on world wars, including how widespread things were. Pick a topic. Africa. Japan. Germany. Poland. Russia, Hitler. Nuclear. etc... etc... My most memorable was Hiroshima. My Grandad fought at hacksaw, so I'm not judging, just in awe. Some random pics of the books of the net. ![]() ![]()

When my dad died, a lot of stuff was lost, including these books.
Sad to see the price they command on Fleabay. Something about "Those who don't learn from the past are condemned to repeat it." Just read each book title. Shunt my arse to parf. I don't care. Lots of people died for those book titles. I can't even imagine. These books deserve a higher price.

In the days when my MIL was a teacher, she had a student who needed more than the curriculum could offer so she got most of the set and made them available to him. When she retired they sat in one of her bookcases. When she went into care, none of her children claimed them, so I am now the conserver.
Interesting view into the time. Best Les

I used to check those out of the Public Library weekly. Take one back on a Saturday, check out the next one. I read "The War in the Desert" volume the most. I purchased a complete set of the Time Life "The Third Reich" series at an estate sale a few years back for 20 bucks. The photos and writing are top-notch. It is a shame many will never know the history and sacrifice it took to triumph in WWII.

The BBC Series "The world at War" is also excellent.
https://www.amazon.com/World-at-War-Laurence-Olivier/dp/B0002F6AH0/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=the+world+at+war+dvd+box+set&qid=1683809889&sprefix=The+world+at+war%2Caps%2C183&sr=8-5 ![]() It covers most of the battles and has footage from the Germans and the Japanese archives. I bought it years ago on Blue Ray.
