How measure hammock stand

I’m an idiot and threw out my hammock without measuring it. Instead I measured the stand and when the new hammock came, it was way too long and hit he ground

Can’t remember how I did the measurement. What I have is similar to the below. I do know looking at the invoice email that it’s a 9’ stand

Anyone have a tip on how to properly measure the frame so I can replace the hammock with the correct length…from what point to what point?

I gotta say, I never imagined being asked that question, much less what correct answer is....

The distance needed is whatever it is between 2 trees.

Oh, you want to know how high, right? I'd guess between 5 and 6 feet. It's up there unless you want to be a low rider.

ratcheting tie down straps make for nice adjustable length as required.

Many years ago, I had a hammock somewhat similar to yours. The length of the frame was adjustable to whatever length of hammock you bought.

The lower center rod could be slid apart for more length. (or pushed together for shorter)

In the fine print for this I see that what is shown is a 9’ stand and it says “ the hammock bed is 63 x 94, with a total length of 130"

So, I’ll run with that

Thanks

Mine doesn’t slide in/out for adjustment…it just comes apart for storage

The hooks that the hammock connect to can be set in different locations but hammocks are definitely not one size fits all. Last one I bought didn’t fit even with the hooks set at their most extreme position

Very annoying because even though the store took the return, they charged me $50 in shipping because the box was huge due to the wood spreader bars …so important to get it right the first time

They've probably improved over the years....but I could never get comfortable in the one I had. It seemed to force my shoulders together too much.

That’s one of the reasons why I tossed it and want one with spreader bars, and so I can see if there are creepy crawlers before I climb in

40 year old flashback here....

Oh to be 23, baking in the miserable eastern NC sun in shorts... no shirt, with a rope loom in one hand, and performing a one hand "toss & catch" while weaving a rope Hatteras hammock bed.....

Good times .... or not .

In college, about 7-8 buddies & I weaved hammocks .... it was damn hard, and if you REALLY busted yer azz, you could make almost 4 bucks in an hour

Beer was cheap then too!

Got an hour between classes? .... RUN down the street and weave one for happy hour $

You think I could afford a hammock back then? I could barely afford 50 cent bottled beer in the college bars ...

Keg parties .... we would NOT disapoear until the keg (or last keg) ran dry....

"The things that wouldn't leave..."

We thought about tee shirts .... but spent our $ on beer instead

My first year of college was the second year of the 18 year old drinking age.
First day of classes...kegs on every dorm floor....help yourselves!
Didn't help with the 9 am classes.

Sorry Ramone for the diversion.
