Your camp site should be as neat as a pin 100% of the time. No stray rubbish and good sanitary solutions and running potable water close by. Internet access is essential so you can upload any photos or video.

Daily blog or start a dedicated thread on Pelican?
Solar charging solution for your electronics?
Thick greasy wool socks for comfort?
Good boots plus soft shoes for the camp area?

At night sound takes on a whole new meaning. You can hear things that you'd never hear during the day.
(Auto game cameras covering your camp site looking in and out - You'd have to review any night time videos every day)

Short of that you're wholly reliant on second hand information.

We've got lot's of critters that will kill a human almost instantly... Unfortunately we're famous for it.

What happens to the Bigfoots that die? They don't leave any remains? Any other critter out there, you'll find bones, teeth, hair, nails. Do they bury their dead? Eat them?

Reihnold Messner saw Yeti. But I think it was too much climbing without supplemental oxygen with him: https://www.deseret.com/2000/4/7/19556628/austrian-mountaineer-describes-firsthand-look-at-yeti

I definitely need a calf tattoo. Mine are a lot less burly, maybe a slenderman tat?

I'd say "they're vegan", but if they were vegan, they would be actively searching for people to tell them "hey, I'm vegan." If they were vegan there would probably be huge piles of squatch crap all around the forest.

If there was something like a squatch in Oz, it would have poisonous spikes outside and venom injecting teeth.

I'm sure they cremate them in a smokeless oven. (smokeless so they don't pollute. They have a great relationship with Greta T)

I am not an expert on apes, but I believe almost all apes (except the vegan humans) eat meat when they can get it. Chimpanzees actively set up hunting parties to go after monkeys as food. Even lemurs will happily eat meat when the can get some.

A large primate like a Bigfoot would need a lot of calories to move around the forest. One of my buddies is a retired Army Ranger. He talked about survival training and real hunger when surviving in the forest with no fires. He said to turn over a log and see a bunch of ants or grubs was a real treat. He ate a lot of bugs during that training mission.

If Bigfoot is vegan, just what the heck does he eat? Deer and herbivores find browse in grassy areas, and they can eat leaves and flowers humans can't eat. There would be evidence of a small community of large vegetarian species just from the damage to the plants stripped of all edible parts. And there would sure be scat everywhere.

see, i love a good conspiracy theory, but not because i believe them. i think they are a lovely form of realistic fiction, and i admire the creativity it takes to truly design and invent a good conspiracy.

my personal favorites though are the space program conspiracy theories. no, not that we didnt land on the moon (obvious even with the naked eye), but what happened at the end of apollo? i mean we know the official story about those saturn 5s being used for skylab and all but ...

the most popular of course was apollo 18 the movie ... just a fun little romp. i also love the "found footage" genre of horror.

but my more recent favorite is the mona lisa apollo 20 conspiracy theory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cC8-rgMNtrw

From what I heard, it is pure AI generated. Someone wanted a great fake, and some AI whipped it out.

Do not believe any photo that seems too good to be true. Photoshop was just baby steps, now AI can create any image.

Thanks... I knew it was fake but it's been really well crafted.

FWIW They're now using AI to upscale classic porn from the 80s... LOL

The mountains of the Pacific Northwest are TEEMING with backpackers. I mean...at any one time standing on a hill you can see them moving around. There are no creatures there which are going unseen. Not even the marmots.

A good friend with plenty of back woods experience is convinced that Bigfoot exists. Has seen Bigfoot. Okay. Anything is possible I suppose.

A major figure on this board says UFOs exist. Again, I respect this person's conclusions. And yet, also, I notice that UFOs are "unidentified flying objects." No question about that. Lots of flying objects are unidentified. Not sure what conclusions can be drawn beyond that, but I have not studied the data.

Scientists and other critical thinkers gather information and, from that information (and perhaps gathering more information) THEN draw conclusions. Others, and a forum nearby is densely populated with them, make the decision first and THEN gather the supporting data.

Modern Bigfoot sightings go all the way back to the early 1800s, with thousands of reports from all across the US. If these encounters were true, there must be quite a few of 'em around. But here's the kicker: For that many of these elusive creatures to have actually been seen, a much larger breeding population would also need to be present. And as LEAKY said above, that many critters would surely be leaving some credible evidence around.

On related note, there's a Bigfoot museum up in the mountains near here. The guy who runs the place is a true believer too...

If you read the Wikipedia article on the Patterson-Gimlin film (the famous footage of Bigfoot walking though the Northern California woods and looking over its shoulder) experts are split on whether the "creature" in the film is a damn good fake or too realistic to be faked.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patterson%E2%80%93Gimlin_film

It's fun to believe that there is an elusive Bigfoot roaming the Pac NW all these years but there would have to be some sort of evidence to be gathered. Too many people carrying cameras with them now - someone ought to be quick enough to snap a pic.

Cougars are very elusive, and try to ambush hunt. The don’t want to be seen, yet there is zero doubt they are in the woods. We can find their scat, see the remains of the kills, and the animals themselves.

For a large ape man to exist, he must be from a different universe and he can just come here briefly to hunt.

That is less likely than the simple existence of it.

Of course lots of stores and guides are “true believers” and swear they have seen it, smelled it, and somehow can’t take as reasonable photo or video of one. If I made my living selling Bigfoot BS I would swear it was real, and for a modest few grand, take you money and take you camping and be sure by friends know when and where to come make noises in the dark to scare the suckers, um customers!
