Damn What Has I Done : Bicycle

Caught in a storm on a pass, after 35 years ive decided i want disc brakes on my road bike. Im no hard man, rim brakes are fing bs.

Wife says ok as long as i sell my old road bike.

My dad is embarrassed by the color but i think its hawt and besides, matches my socks.

A lot more bike than i need but price was right. Gotta do a little corrosion repair. Sucker likes to climb.

Seems like bikes give me terrific return of hedonic units per $.

I admit....I had to look it up:

hedonic
adjective
1: of, relating to, or characterized by pleasure
2: of, relating to, or characterized by hedonism

Congrats on the new bike - I'm OK with the colour.....safe riding!

Portland bike. Cielos are nice. Rear dropouts are works of art. Too bad they're not making Cielos anymore.
Is that the original color? Looks like about a 58, my size!

Does it have any Chris King parts on it? Headset? BB? (It looks like it might be a CK headset but I can't be sure)

Hang on tight in crosswinds, those deep Enve's will try and sail on you and you don't want to lose your front end during an off camber downhill!!

Love the color and "New School" steel!

Search "Paul Klampers" for the ultimate in cable operated disk brake calipers (Shimano pads and disks).
Hydro disk brakes are great & all that but they require bleeding/maintenance.

Ceilos were made by Chris King. I wasn’t aware that they had ceased production. Either way, it’s a beautiful bike, and you can’t go wrong with a handmade steel MUSA frame.

I thought disc brakes on a bike were silly until I rode rode with them.

Wow.
Surprised at the improved performance.
I'm now a big fan of discs.

"Dear zakthor.
...if you’ve come this far, maybe you’re willing to come a little further."

ps- I had no idea pink was even an anodized color. I'm still stuck on 90's purple!

What a bunch of freaks. How do you guys know anything about this? Thanks for the complements.

Its a large, 57tt, 400mm reach. Is like it was made for me. Im used to hydraulic brakes from mtb, love mineral oil.

Everything on the bike that can be king is king. High point is the wheels: enve 5.6 with king r45 hubs, setup tubeless but rear wheel needs a retape.

Color was custom from king - he really wanted pink. Seller had it in bolivia for a year, has corrosion. Was living about a mile from my house.

$2200. Im just some schlub, going to get passed a lot.

Whether I pass you or you pass me on that bike I'm going to be sure and say "Nice bike, love the color"!

I have a white road bike so to add color, I used red handlebar wrap. Years later it’s faded to pink. I haven’t ridden in years but when I get back on the saddle again, I think I’ll put on black wrap.

I like it!
Years ago I had a team bike that was supposed to be burnt purple. The damn thing was pink.
I rode the wheels off that bike and it was great for me. Few top ten finishes, an outright win.
Our sponsor's slogan was "blow you away" and I cut out some of their decals and put them down the seat stays. I had the legs to back that up back then.

There's was a pink Casati hanging in the shop along with all others that were none pink back in 1986. It was my size and we get a discount since we were club members. I wanted it for two reasons, the color and because it was a Casati (they imported them). My friend would say to me, if you buy that, you had better get up and do your big turn up front or sprint out of every single turn during the training rides that or do not every let em' catch you. That's a "Bad Ass color but you have to live up to it. Muhahahaha. I never bought that frame. Couldn't afford it. I eventually bought a Casati from them and raced the hell out of it. Still have it handing in my garage.

The OP bike would look great with black bar tape. Black saddle, black cables and black bars.

Chef's kiss.

I think it will look much better in front of the pack with his nose on the stem, flat back, with a few guys sucking his wheel on an incline in big ring and a 15 tooth cog.

Old-school steel guy here - How's the ride with that near-straight fork? I would think that to be quite jarring on a slightly bumpy road...

Another good thing about them is the rims are lighter because they don't need the strength for a calliper grabbing them. So less rotating mass = more efficient.
