The more we hear about Mr Rush, the more he sounds like a cult leader. “Follow me to …(insert method of demise here)”.

I don't think we'll make it.

I wonder why the butt-glued decision was made, possibly to simply save on the cost of the Ti pieces?

Were I building this, at a minimum I would demand an overlap that was equal to the wall thickness of the tube (5" in the case of the Titan), both inner and outer surfaces, and I would want fasteners in addition to the glue, such as precision bucked rivets that pass through metal sleeves imbedded in the carbon tube. That seems like basic, best-practices stuff to me, but who knows.

a better idea would be to have a Ti liner on the whole inside of the sub, maybe an inch thick, and then wrap that in carbon fiber. or have that on the outside, and push a carbon tube into it.

i wonder if they didnt do that due to differential shrink.

i mean this is why you dont use carbon fiber for a submarine. there just isnt any good way to solve these issues.

How many red flags got ignored. I expect many more stories to come to light.

I really wonder what human remains were found and if any are being recovered. Let’s call it scientific curiosity.

Even deep sea fish enjoy a meal. So not much soft tissue left I would assume.

Conversations between fish are something like "What do you feel like having for dinner?" "I dunno, maybe something Asian."

How much do we spend looking for the bodies of dead refugees?

https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/it-cost-more-than-2-4m-for-one-rcaf-plane-to-join-titanic-sub-search-1.6470101

And this is just one of many pieces of equipment used in the search and <s> rescue </s> recovery…
