I use my jet ski ports when working on the boat when it's on the lift. The two of them are attached and, combined, make for a surprisingly stable work platform.

What size motors are you yanking the lower units off at the dock?

I was cruising at around 4200-4400 or so. Engine had been running for 2 hours before it stumbled and died.

Many around here pull the lower units off the front of a pontoon, more stable. I have a 4x8 floating thing but it’s just not very stable.

As far as more investigation, it would require having the boat pulled and hauled to a shop. I don’t own a trailer and the boats 32’ long. Then mechanics get $150 hour+. It could be many things, other motor could be fine and last years. I’m afraid I’d just be putting more money into it.

Cheapest route is buy a used motor of the same type and roll the dice, $7,000 to $8,000.

But since I go pretty far offshore I’m going to buy new for $55,000-$60,000. At least I’ll know the maintenance history from day one, if something does break have a warranty for 3 years. Maybe even get a tenth or two better fuel mileage.

Still waiting for some info. You would think for a sale I would get faster call backs, I know one installer is still waiting for engine quotes.

Yamaha extf 200 2 strokes. With the motors tilted all the way up, the lowers are just about even with my floating dock.

No worse feeling than being 20 miles offshore, turning the key and nothing happening..
Know it all too well

That’s coming in on one motor, not enough horsepower to get on plane. I normally cruise around 40mph if the conditions are good.

Pulled the trigger on twin Yamaha 300hp. Dealer is 60 miles away but $3,000 less. Still low 50’s depending if I need new props.

They had them in stock, but don’t have a date for boat pickup yet.

I went to the local dealer to see if he would come down any, nope, said someone will pay his price as it’s still hard to get motors. They are keeping their margins where they are.
