Car Show

Went to a close-by, small town car show this am. About 100 cars entered of which two were imports. Lots of tractors and Harleys also.
My car in in the last two pics.

Nice pics - thanks!

Just wondering: What kind of reception and/or comments did the Porsche get? I've been tempted to take mine to a local show or two, but I never see Porsches and only very rarely see sports cars of any kind. Typically at the local shows are old & new muscle cars, some restomods, some old school hot rods, a occasional smattering of lower-buck antiques (e.g. model A's) and custom pickup trucks.

.

At this show, this am, I had the red Prelude in the last two pics of post #1.
It got a lot of attention from the 40-60 guy group. Almost all would say..."I had one of these and haven't seen a nice one in years" I also got a lot questions about the nitrous kit on it.

Last year, I brought my 84 Carrera. It was shined up beautifully and looked awesome.
I got maybe 3 comments from people. Most would just give it a quick glance and turn their head away as if scared of it. I really think that bringing a Porsche to a car show in a rural farm area is stupid. They don't know what it is and they don't want to ask...
Ford trucks and Corvettes always draw a crowd.
If the car show had been in Grand Rapids....it would be entirely different.

Very cool!

The one car I have had that never failed to draw a crowd was my 1978 VW Westfalia, no matter what it brought a smile to peoples faces.

My son in 17 now so we have taken his 1992 Fox Body Mustang to a few cars and coffee and while the paint is crap the car is super straight and he likes talking to people about it, so I really like seeing that.

We are working on my 1966 Mustang together to get it back on the road since he wants to drive that too, which has been awesome.

Your Prelude is so nice, I am not surprised it got attention.

Yes! A small quiet college town in the middle of MI farmland.
Were you there yesterday also?

I usually put one of my cars in the High River car show which is about as rural of a farm town as you could imagine. I believe it is also the largest car show in Alberta with several thousand cars.

The Porsches don’t draw a crowd but more than once I’ve had people waiting at my cars to chat with me.

I bring my Porsche 218 Standard tractor to a tractor show herein MN. Its really fun to watch the old timers do a double take when they walk by it. I get so many questions, I had my daughter make up a 30x40 poster board explaining the history of the design.

Nice Prelude. Who knew at the time they would be car show material, and yet there are.

I bring my 930 to a cars and coffee now and then... usually a few admirers but they're typically Euro-only guys. My 69 Mustang draws many more people, but almost exclusively from the muscle car crowd. Of course I'm both, but that seems pretty rare. Not unlike the Harley / BMW subgroups sticking to their own, but I'm in both camps there too.
I'll talk to anyone who is enthusiastic about their car at these sort of things... the car doesn't really matter!
