At night, have the pool water pumped
through a large sprinkler-type thing
that sprays it above the pool and lets it drift back down.

The evaporative properties will cool the water
below ambient with very little energy involved.
It wouldn't make a huge difference but would help a little.

Installing a small "cooling tower" would be much more
effective and could be set up with natural draft or an
induced draft fan.

Here's an example of one, with a rating of 75,000 BTU/h
Could be overkill at a cost of $2,150.00 but could be
scaled down to meet the needs.

At 1/6th horsepower the electrical draw wouldn't be excessive
and if you have a variable speed pump you could set it on low,
or install a small circ pump just for the cooling tower.

I wanted to put a pool in a few summers ago. They quoted me $132,000

Seemed a lot. So I have a 16' above ground Round pool from Intex that was $350

My pool gets to a perfect 80-85 f. this time of year...

I have nothing against getting a pool but I have so many friends who have them and they have no problem with me using theirs so that's what I do whenever I get the urge. Living 2 blocks from the ocean though also gives me plenty of options.

When it’s your pool you can “get some” in it in the evening to take the edge off the heat

No chiller needed here - for us, the sweet spot here is 80-85 (wife, me). During the summer we don't have any trouble keeping it there using a handful of solar sun rings (which my kids call elephant condoms - see below...)

We occasionally turn on the heater and bring it up to 88-90, and even though the cost of natural gas has risen precipitously, the new heaters are so efficient it doesn't take that much to get it up to temps.

Completed in 2021 - very happy with it, but I hope to God I never do that again...

PS - very happy with this safety net. Only use it when little ones are around. But we've tested it with teens - almost keeps them dry!
