Unreal

My belgian Malinois Tilly dropped dead this morning while playing with her little brother. She was only a year and a half old. She was very fit and had the "heart of an athlete" according to her vet. She was a beautiful girl who I loved as much as humanly possible. I retired before I adopted her and raised her completely. She was crazy smart and incredibly loving...did I mention she was beautiful to boot.
This has left me completely shattered emotionally. We did everything together. She slept by my side protecting form the evil cats. She was the most amazing big sister to Boomer who is now 11 months old.

It just isn't supposed to happen this way. I saw it all from the front window, her and Boomer were just running around playing chase...like always. Then she just stumbled and slid to a stop on her side underneath a pine tree. I ran outside, and tried to give CPR and nose to mouth breaths. But to no avail. I am totally heartbroken. She is the 3rd dog since January to pass. The other 2 had lived nice long lives....this is just a total shock for me.

I know you have to be devastated. I think it hurts me more to have a pet die than to hear about some older person passing. But they always leave us with good memories.

So very sorry for your loss. It is not fair dogs live such short lives, and that was a real short life.

My condolences.

I am crushed. She was my girl and slept with me. Every morning we had "lovies" which is when I would just sit there with her and gently pet her. She loved that immensely and would just sit there for a long time.

Know that I am as sorry as can be; I have no words for such a devastating situation.

Matt, the only thing I can think to say is she couldn't have lived her short life with anyone who loved her more.

I'm guessing everyone here has the same lump in their throat.

Wow, that's just so incredibly sad. Tilly left this life way too early...

Me as well.

Matt, she looks like every great, soulful dog that just looks you in the running lights and melts your heart.

You need to grieve. It is normal and Tilly deserves it.

But you know all of that and so much more. My best to you.

All who have lost loved pets know the deep sorrow. That's of little help to you now. My sympathy.
