FL restaurant owner exposes 'dine-and-dashers' on social media

Quote:
A Florida restaurant owner is taking matters into his own hands after a series of dine-and-dashers targeted his Tampa restaurant — by outing them on social media and confronting them face-to-face.

Rick's on the River owner Ken Brackins detailed why he posted videos of the perpetrators online and why he hasn't sought support from law enforcement during "Fox & Friends First."

"We always make them come back in and pay, that want to pay over the phone — but we make them do the walk of shame and come in and pay," he continued.

Brackins posted videos online confronting his "customers" after they fled the restaurant before paying their tab. He said most customers paid after being confronted, but one driving a Mercedes-Benz still refused to pay up even after the altercation.

I like the owner's strategy. Will prob do more good than reporting to the police.

Good for him. I remember working at TGI Fridays and a couple skipped out on me. They came back a month later and I was the waiter in that section. They saw me and booked out of there.

Most people are decent, but there are plenty of POS out there. Hopefully, karma bites them in the azz.

Love it , bad tenants, rude, and lousy customers, and people who are bad pay should be outed online also .
I just got stifffed for $800 from people I have known my whole life . They know I just lost my wife, and am raising two boys on my own . I had not done work for them in 15 years . They definitely targeted me , whether they thought I was a soft target, or thought I had the jack and didnt need it , either way , totally sleazy .
On FB, they are living the dream, traveling ,racing bicycles, hunting etc.
I was pretty close to outing them to let everybody know what a ****ty thing they tried to pull .
I actually told hubby that I was not in a good place, and it would be wise to just write me a fking check .

I think it's great. Take social media and use it to shame/cancel real jackasses.

I'm hoping, after reading your whole post, that they tried to stiff you, and then you went back and got it handled so that you didn't get stiffed in the end. And the good news is that you know better than to ever deal with them again.

One of my buddies owned a liquor store back in the mid 1980s. He accepted checks and any bounced ones he hung on a board next to the check out register for all to see. He said a few people called him and cussed him out for showing their bad checks. He just replied, come in with cash, and I will hand you that bounced check. Very few people came in to pay off a bad check for liquor.

In the crazy world that we live in now I wonder if 'outing' people can end up be slanderous.

Just wondering. I know at least once where I forgot to pay and left. I did come back once I figured it out, but not that day. Had they posted me up for being a deadbeat for an honest oversight (I think we were pretty happy at the time), the dead beat thing might have gone the other way.

Not saying I'm a tough buy. Just saying I've had my share of offering up some serious retribution. Illegal serious but never caught. And always, always well justified.

Way way back when I was a kid, we flew to Hawaii to live there in a C-54 and it was unpressurized, 14 hour flight to get there. To move back to the mainland we took the cruise ship, Matsona, all the way from Hawaii to Los Angles. As a active and always hungry kid, I loved it. We would walk into a restaurant, and get all the food I could eat, and then just walk out, like on any cruise ship.

When we got back to LA we went to a restaurant and almost to thee door before dad realized, whoops, gotta pay up. We are not cruising anymore.

There are some pages on Facebook .

Im all for it . 95% of the population is great , but don't be fooled, they walk among us . Small business often have no safety net. Same with small landlords . I've learned some hard expensive lessons over the years .

You can't be sued for slander if it is true.

Vanishingly small percentage of people that do not pay forgot to.

When I was a waiter, I hip checked a guy into a post that was trying to dine and dash on my buddy. He ended up getting arrested.
