And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it

As written in the Gruppe B Manifesto. Chapter 1, verse 3. "And ye shall go out among the non-believers and spread thy truth that any man who accepts the path of Porsche...with an open heart and an open mind, yet shall he be one with the brotherhood." I do this today my good friends, I go to spread the news that we are here... as I attend a local Porsche gathering and suck down a few suds as well!

Wish me well!

P.S. Dutchie that post made me spit up my breakfast cereal!! lol

Dutchie 06-21-2003 07:38 AM

Good luck Sir John ! sorry about the cereal :D

wuf wuf

Good to see the word is spreading strong! I will do my best to spread the word tomorrow at Nurburgring...as tonight I prepare for the battle. I ask my friends for assistance with this battle preperation...any tips before I run my noble steed round and round the 13 mile "Green Hell"?
I have checked luggs, shocks, etc. Engine is strong and has good clean Mobile 1 pumping through the veins...tires are good and the wether is clear, the Porsche gods are looking out. Gruppe B will run the ring!

Armaments, chapter two, verses nine to twenty-one.

And Saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying, 'O Lord, bless this Thy hand grenade that, with it, Thou mayest blow Thine enemies to tiny bits in Thy mercy.'

And the Lord did grin, and the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths and carp and anchovies and orangutans and breakfast cereals and fruit bats and large chunks........

Dutchie 06-21-2003 08:20 AM

ehhm Smitty my tip would be not to go :( but i,m sure you will so take it slow please ! Watch out for the bikers they will pass you at speeds you cannot believe. It,s a great track but you need to do hunderds of laps to learn it i,m afraid. All sounds a bit dull maybe but the track is closed 6 times a day because they have to tow cars away. The green hell is and will be the most dangerous track around because there is no room for errors. So please be carefull my friend :)

k9handler 06-21-2003 08:27 AM

thank you Ed...you are correct! I have spent many months reading up on the track and I just can't leave Europe without running a few laps of that track! I am going to take it pretty easy and just enjoy the expiereince while looking at the other cars and insane drivers...should be great fun! I had not heard of the 6 track closures for tow trucks...but I have seen many pictures of wreked cars and that's not fun. I have been told that as long as you take it easy and remain in control, you will do fine. So I am not going to be keeping times, and my goal is nothing more than a great day driving around a great track. Thanks Ed.

Dutchie 06-21-2003 08:36 AM

i,m sure you will be fine :) maybe 6 times is the record but now the weather is nice it will be crowded overthere i,m sure. Taking it slow is the way to go the first time. Just watch out for those a##holes in their tuned golfs worth 600 euro,s they are the crazy ones ! i know because i was one of them. I did some pretty stupid stuff overthere but got away with it. Keep your line and don,t try to make room for the faster cars because this is how the most accidents happen overthere ! Have a blast i,m sure you,ll love it :) and offcourse bring the camera.

I am looking to catch up with Ben Lovejoy (Spelling?) and maybe catch a few pointers from him...his website is excellent.

Dutchie 06-21-2003 08:45 AM

yeah try to find Ben :) he is one of the Ring gurus. Ask him if he would like to join you, would be awesome to have someone like that with you. Also look for "Ringers" stickers they are the Dutch ring fans and they will give you the best of advice or go with you if you like. www.8200rpm.com is their home i,m sure they will be there tommorow.

Dutchie 06-21-2003 08:48 AM

a direct link from ww.8200rpm.com video of two 911 RS,s on the ring http://217.67.226.28/Video_Section/Porsche-993-RS-HR.avi

enjoy :)

k9handler 06-21-2003 08:50 AM

Ben is going to be there accorrding to his site...I have seen the ringers stuff as well since I have been researching this for a long while.
That would be very cool to have Ben along, he does know the ring very well. I also have a friend from work going with me for the ride, so I will be very careful.

k9handler 06-21-2003 08:51 AM

thanks Ed...I am downloading it now

MotoSook 06-21-2003 10:57 AM

Be careful Smitty. I just saw a Rennlist e-mail with a link to the Ferrari Chat in which I perused, and it seems one of their members may have met a tragic end at the Ring recently. Enjoy yourself and please return to the castle walls in one piece. WUf! Wuf!

k9handler 06-21-2003 11:02 AM

I read that posts as well...hard to swallow something like that as it will be in my mind as I drive the ring. I will return with great pride that I will have conquered the ring...well I least went for a nice Sunday drive on it.

DByers 06-21-2003 02:01 PM

Smitty, enjoy and be safe. Full update upon your return.
