Glad the pilots ok and it looks like there weren't any civilians hurt in the crash.

I have a son in the Army. There are way more deaths and injuries in training exercises than ever make the news. My son was recently involved in the recovery efforts in Australia when his unit was there for a diving exercise. 4 Aussie crew died in a helicopter crash at sea. Luckily none of my son's unit were in the aircraft.

Absolutely nothing, but that won’t stop them. I’ll stop now lest this goes to PARF.

A pilot ejects out of a perfectly flying plane and there is nothing wrong?
He quit trying way to early for one thing.!!!
This had to be a mistake or more dubious.
Ya just don't pull the eject seat unless there is a dire emergency.
Never, no not ever, have I ever heard of the Military calling an emergency like this a "mishap!"
Does this new woke military now count losing an aircraft as a mishap?
Categorically, in the old Military, it would be labeled something way worse.
Tragic? accidental?, negligent?
Now we get a mishap? Like a park and get a parking ticket?
You folks who never knew Military SOP will not understand about being responsible for an aircraft.
Like - it's going to be taken out of your pay!

^^ 100% agree there are WAY more questions than answers on this one. But the China/woke comments are just adding nonsense to the discussion, IMO. That said, if it was found to have been hacked, what are the chances we’d ever find out? I think near zero.

How do you know the pilot ejected out of a perfectly flying plane? You don’t!

Your military knowledge obviously stopped around ‘75 so, why bother trying to equate your Vietnam helicopter experience with a modern attack aircraft pilot? Did your choppers have ejection handles/seats?

The loss of the aircraft has been properly categorized by the Corp in the same way as two other crashes in August.

Until the investigation is complete and the cause of the crash is known, how do you label it anything but a mishap?

Do you know whether it was a mechanical failure, pilot error or a Chinese ballon shooting a DEW?? No… you dont.

Stop fishing for a political message in everything that happens. Sh!!T happens, engineers make mistakes, pilots make mistakes, QA misses material deficiencies and it all sometimes happens without a thought of perceived wokeness or whatever the latest parroted buzzword is popular these days.

All we currently know is a pilot ejected and is safe and we lost an F35 B variant . That is all we know . Everything else is speculation and BS . I am sure the military knows a lot already and will learn more .

I am sure discussions have already started with LM and teams are pouring over data . The investigation will be thorough and a conclusion will be the end result .

The military will hold back any info that is deemed necessary for security reasons . I am guessing we will here a watered down version of what happened . I don't say that as a negative , just my belief . I just don't think finite details will ever hit the press . I could be wrong .

Duhhh.... because Sherlock, the thing kept flying? !!!!!
For a long long ways!
He gave up way too EZ with toooo many reasons to stay on board as the AC
Your knowledge quit about everything quite a long long time ago.
Do not bother telling me about my knowledge ...LOL
Next -
The Military could not track it?
Do you know about "Airtags?"
How about tracking your cell phone?
Or your little RC airplane?
And the military could not track its billion-dollar weapon?
Heck, they could track us with a push squawk button a million years ago!
Go find a subject you might know something about B4 your start criticizing.
Makes you look rather silly

Or box in your military aircraft log book?

LOL
No doubt it's the new military pronoun .... He lost a billion-dollar plane.

Aircraft that have kept on flying after crew ejects is a lot more common than you think.

We can’t have people who actually know what they’re talking about commenting…it will be the end of this place.

Unless you are engaging in willful misconduct, the liability to the Soldier for loss of equipment is limited to one month's base pay.

I'd be more concerned about the flight evaluation board.

Hopefully someone in the Woke/Air Force finds this thread, then they won't need to waste money on an investigation.

Ie. the famous Starfighter in the cornfield.

A lot of what has been posted on the internet about this pilot is borderline slanderous, given the posters level of knowledge as to what was going on in the cockpit. Dan Gryder just got wacked with a multimillion dollar judgement for jumping to conclusions and slandering an airport operator.

After the Mig went down at the airshow last month a dogpile of idiots blamed the rear seat copilot for "prematurely" ejecting. As it turns out, the PIC was busy running a checklist for an engine that had returned to flight idle uncommanded, and the rear seat guy was doing his job watching airspeed and altitude and distance to the field. When the numbers stacked the wrong way, he punched them both out and likely saved his and the pilot's life.
