My puppers is no longer a pup so she is rather chill
Even in her puppy days about the only thing she did was become an escape artist and harass the neighbors horses thru their fence. Had to bail her out of doggy jail once for that trick.... Our two kittens though .... |

Our 3 year old German shepherd/Aussie shepherd mix has some odd behaviors . Anytime you pull a garbage bag out of the can to empty he follows you and gently nips at you until we close the door .
Open the dishwasher and leave the door down he stays clear . Gives evil side eye looks . When outside in his fenced area he will sometimes take off at lightning fast speed and run like a nut . I am talking full out sprint with grass flying everywhere due to claws digging in . Luke sleeps with us at night . At some point in the night he rolls over onto his back . He will sleep for hours with all four legs sticking straight up to the ceiling . He is special 😋 |

Our border collie would climb the ladder to the play structure we had in the back yard to watch people in the back alley.

Mine cried he was so happy to see me.
I went on a fishing trip for 8 days. Came home. My pup cried five minutes on my return. It’s nice to be loved. |

I know I have mentioned this before, but Casey (Lab/Huskey mix) was an amazing dog. At the time we had him, he would spend nice days in his kennel, so when we got Brindle (Boxer/Beagle mix), we put her in with him. Big mistake. The Missus came home after school one day to find a hole in the wire and no dogs. When I got home I scanned the marshes with binoculars and saw them about a mile away. We jumped into the truck and drove over there. Casey came right over to us, but Brindle wouldn't let us come near. Finally the wife said she would release Casey and maybe he would lead the new dog home as it was time for their supper. When released, Casey went to the other dog, communicated to her somehow, then led her back to us. She allowed us to leash her again and we were home in short order.
I built a new kennel after that and found out little Brindle was an escape artist. She could run up a 6 foot door and get over the top. Finally there was a transom over the door and the fences were burried a foot with rock armor and extended to 8 feet all around. Best Les

She instinctively watched and obeyed hand commands and would stalk the thrown ball on command. Peps came from working dogs and it shows. Another thing she would do is quietly herd kids in the back yard. They wouldn't even notice that she was doing it.

Our old dog, Coco, who was a husky/pit bull/rotty mix did a lot of things. She also used to climb aluminum ladders. When I built our garage in Calgary, we had her on a lead connected to the old clothes line as we temporarily had no back fence. She climbed the ladder, walked through the top rung and nearly knocked the ladder down (her lead was through the ladder). We had to lower her down. When I built my house on the farm, she did the same thing only this time was a lot higher up walking on the top plate of the walls on the 2nd story as I was installing the rafters.
When I was installing the stairs, I’m underneath them holding them in place and about to tack them in place with my framing nailer, that dog ran up them at the speed of light. Sadly, this will be Roxy’s last week with us. The cancer has progressed and she’s in pain despite our generous doses of pain meds. We are bringing home another rescue our friends have been fostering for us next weekend.

The hound dog just had to go outside at 4:30 am the other morning. It was raining, she didn't care. The wife finally got her back in the house and attempted to dry her off with a towel. She was covered in burrs. Now we have a towel covered in burrs. Any tips for getting the burrs out of the towel? The internet says to use a comb, but the comb catches in the loops on the towel and is destroying the towel.
There's something that has moved in under the trailer in the back yard. The dog will go out, lay in the grass about 20 feet away from the trailer, and just stare at it. Burr towel. ![]() |

^do a sweep of the yard and remove burdock? It's supposedly edible with health attributes https://www.healthline.com/health/burdock-root
My pup will get the tennis ball at the dog park, drop it through the fence, then cry and bark like there's no tommorow. Drama dog. All the other dogs will come over to see what's going on. I get to walk around and fetch it. He will also bring ball to strangers drop it in front of them and demand they throw it. Despite that OCD chase impulse he will walk a few feet past rabbits in the back yard.

This one is 4 months old. Pretty good other than the whole not yet potty trained thing. She does pick up every thing and carry around. She is very sassy. I swear she is part husky some days.

No clue if she will grow into them. Her paws are bigger than our 4 year old male's.

Get off my lawn!

Our male dachshund, Reuben is a hunter of any living or edible thing in HIS back yard. Last week at about 9:30 PM my wife noticed he was not in the house. Like a 2 year old child, quiet and out of sight is not a good thing. Se we went exploring in the yard for him.
He was in the far corner of the yard, in a flower bed, and he had something in his mouth. He had killed a squirrel. It was very floppy, and he had done the death shake on it. It was a sub-adult, not quite full grown. How he got a squirrel at night is unknown. I carried him and the squirrel to the back porch, my wife went inside to get a couple of treats. She put the treats on the ground and we could see him thinking, go for the sure thing, the treats and give up the prize, or just be stubborn and keep it clamped in his jaws. He went for the treats, and I went for the tail of the tree rat. We were lucky, t was trash day in the morning and the wheelie bin was at the curb, so Mr. squirrel went to the nice farm in the country. He got a baby bunny earlier in the year, and several mice. The mice he usually disposes of himself if we don't bribe him with a treat. He has chased off all the Polar Bears, Elephants, and Tigers in the area. They are just gone from the area and hiding at the zoo. Once skunk had two encounters with him, and that was a giant pain in the nose, both times. We hired a professional skunk trapper to get rid of the skunk that had a den nearby.
