Whiskey part 3
Been drinking Angel’s Envy Rye. Like the vanilla finish. Any suggestions for something equally good?

Angel’s Envy Rye is a good drink. Prior to selling out to Bacardi around 2015 the product was much better. Not sure what changed in the process?
I prefer Angel's Envy Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and I find Glenfiddich 14 Year Old Bourbon is along that line.

Never done a rye but I will always praise the Woodford offerings. It is actually the only alcohol I keep around the house other than a small bottle of Jack Daniels for my mom
(why yes my almost 87 year old mother likes her JD on the rocks) |

If its available where you are, Bowman's Port Barrel Finish Bourbon-same process as Angel's Envy, Buffalo Trace base mash, and significantly less expensive.

Thank you for the suggestions. I’ll look for the Bowman’s.

Awesome stuff. Here in Va we NEVER see it on the shelf any longer, gotta line up on delivery day and hope to get lucky. The bourbon craze is a pain.

The mid-range offering from here reminds me an awful lot of the Colonel EH Taylor bourbon. Totally worth it, probably the best Canadian whisky I've ever had.

Willett 4 year Rye has a very different flavor profile, but I think it would compete with Angel's Envy.
Jack Daniel's new "Bonded Rye" is very good for the money. Barrell Seagrass Rye is finished in rum casks like Angels Envy's Rye, but the proof is much higher.... a lot of people like it; i don't think it is worth the money. Avoid Broken Barrel Heresy Rye. There is not enough sherry stave influence to cover up the mediocre rye.

thank you guys for all of your suggestions. As I said, I like the vanilla finish in the Angel's End Rye and unfortunately killed my bottle last night. Good news I am on my way to Rennsport and am staying in Carmel where I can go by Grasings Restaurant and sample their bourbons.
But keep the suggestions coming.

Old Forester 86proof has a lot of smoky charcoal undertones. Good for the gut.
That, and Makers Mark, are the only acceptable ones I've tried yet. (I don't really like hard liquor in general.)

I sampled a few good ones at my Brother-in-law's place yesterday. That beer in the last pic was very good!!! The wives threw a gender reveal party for some friends and I grilled 40 burgers and we had made a bourbon and brown sugar glaze for the burgers and had some pulled pork also along with bunches of side dishes, it was a good time. Friends are expecting a girl!!!

Looks like he has most of the heavy hitters covered...
I have had two bottles of Birthday Bourbon 2014 and 2015 (still 3/4 full) bought at retail. There is no way and I mean no way they are worth what they demand on the secondary market. I would say it was just ok, nothing mind blowing at all. Old Forester 1920 is better in every measure.

For one that’s ubiquitous (where I am at least) I like a drop of Widow Jane.

Never tried BB, but that matches what I have heard from others. I have enjoyed everything else of theirs I've tried, except for one OF100 single barrel that is a bit "off."
I lucked out and found the new Maker's Cellar Aged and Parker's Heritage Rye last week. Looking forward to opening those. Quote:

If ya watched the video, that Rolling Fork 6 year old Venezuelan Rum aged in Weller barrels was fantastic!!! I never thought of rum as a sipping drink but man was it good, and smooth!!!
