Great thread!
My granddaughter is finishing grad school next spring. It is wonderful to see this young lady blossoming in this way. At 19 years of age our grandson finally showed some interest in girls. He is 6'9 and his girlfriend is 5'1" I don't know how that's going to work out, but it's great to see him showing some "symptoms" of adulthood. Our dog Owen is a changed pup. He had behavior problems until the other two household dogs passed away. Now he is a joy to be around. We take walks every morning now. I guess he always identified as an only child. :D One or another of you here on PPOT says something that makes me smile on a daily basis. On a good day it's several of you. |
Right now, at this very moment, I am watching our 1 year old toy Aussiedoodle "Daisy" curiously watch our robotic vacuum as it is going around doing its thing. She will get close to it and then when it changes direction she scampers away, so that is making me smile right now. Lol.

I am at a point in life that once long ago I dreamed of. Zero debt, (except a company airplane that makes us good money) a comfortable savings and investments. Back in my 20s I thought someone in my financial situation was just rich as heck, and someone over 60 years old was ancient. Now that seems young and I remember it fondly.
The ability to drive my 85 911 on a 3,500 mile road trip and have a blast and not even think about the insignificant total cost of that 10 day trip. My wife is retired, and my company is perfect for me, as we get a few huge jobs that make us the major money and a few small jobs to keep me busy, but it not a "job" as we run it like a lemonade stand. My commute of 14 steps down the hall with traffic of just two "starving" dachshunds waited for me to make coffee and then they get fed. Life is great. |
A few things that also make me smile:
A nice breeze at the lake, fixing something and the satisfaction of a job well done and watching the deer enjoy the veggies we put out at the edge of the woods. It's all about the little things for me that make s me smile .[emoji846] Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk |
People that care enough to start threads like this.
Random strangers holding the doors for each other's families at a restaurant and sharing a joke about it. Hugs from friends. Knowledge that chitty times will pass. Random phone calls from my boys. |
Our 1st grandchild was born in august. Get to spend abundant quality time with my daughter, her husband and son.

The temps in Florida are finally dropping down from broil now and a cold beer on the back deck overlooking the golf course is a simple pleasure these days.

I finally replaced the flaking temp and fan buttons on my Cayman S, made me happy and proud; it’s the little things for me.

Iced coffee.
And something about walking around Pull-a-Part and retrieving good parts for our vehicles makes me happy. [emoji846] Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk |

Happiest my wife recovered completely after a bout with colon cancer. She’s back to working outside, planting and gardening, taking care of her chickens and our two dogs. Me, working on the Ford F100 pickup. Life’s good. It’s gonna be 88 degrees here today in upstate NY, gonna enjoy this…

My wife is still alive--a serious run with cancer -battling every minute.

It’s recent enough, so I’ll count it for this thread. My daughter and I went to Rennsport this past weekend. We went with porsche4life (Sidney, in background also taking a selfie). This is her 3rd Rennsport. I was afraid she had had too much after 4 days of cars and the racetrack, but as we were leaving Laguna Seca she pulled me in close and whispered to me that she didn’t want to leave. |
