What’s making you happy right now?
There is a lot of crap happening right now on the political scene and the news is loaded with negativity. Let’s have a thread about all the little things that fill our bucket and make us smile right now.

I’ll start…
Having my father close by so he can be part of my children’s lives has been really heart warming the last couple months. He has had two really great outings with my family the last two weekends. ![]() I’m really enjoying guitar lessons and practice with my daughter. ![]() We got another rescue dog on the weekend after saying goodbye to our old dog who had cancer. This is sorta a meant to be story where some friends found this dog abandoned in a ditch near the dump. He’s just too big for them. They reached out asking if I knew anyone looking for a dog not long after we got the prognosis on our last dog… they fostered him until we were ready to take him. ![]() Yesterday, I got to watch one of my son’s football games (the first I’ve been able to make it to). In the first play of the game, the QB threw him the ball and he ran it nearly all the way. He was about 2 yards short of making a touchdown. The next play got it across the line. I was really proud of him. ![]()

I have a lot to be happy about . Five years into retirement . A great wife and family . Going to my grand daughter's soccer games . Driving my Porsche's in the mountains . Completing various projects . The list goes on and on . I am a lucky guy . I don't let the clowns in Washington bring me down .

Lasr night the wife and I were talking about how 50 years ago this month I visited friends at university and was introduced to her. We're both greyer now, but we feel the same way about each other. (Plus she makes great pies and muffins!)
Our kids are living their lives with no drama and our granddaughter is thriving. We are able to do the things we want to do. I don't think it gets much better in real life. Best Les

I have three awesome children. Oldest is 23. My dream has been for all of them to attend a college and have the sort of experience that my wife and I had.
Life is funny. First kid is on the autism spectrum. No college. But, they are doing great and enjoy their life. Second kid is doing great at college but he just doesn’t let us into his life. So we don’t reap much emotional benefit from this. Third kid just went to school 1/2 way across the continent. She struggled greatly with anxiety and really took some risks with her choice. It is a pretty high performance school and she knew zero people there. Well, she is absolutely thriving. I have had some calls with her and she sounds happier than ever. I realize that only now, have I been able to experience MY dream of my children attending college. And it feels awesome. |

After the painful losses of our 3 dogs this year, it didn't seem possible to be happy. Through it all, my wife and I have discovered that the best way to heal the heart is to pick up the pieces where you left off.
We now have two young dogs again. The happy part is watching them play, learn, and grow into their personalities.

I take great pride in the lives that my daughter and son have created for themselves. Watching my grandchildren participate in sport makes my chest swell with pride and joy. Their scholastic achievement is at the top of the pride list as well.
I don't think anything will ever bring me greater happiness than my expanded family. Well maybe if I live long enough to meet my great grandchildren.

son is doing well at college, daughter in first year of HS is still happy and bright. Relationship with my wife is stronger than ever. The boys (dogs) are a source of constant entertainment and joy.
this fall weather is just fuel for the soul. upper 60's with a slight breeze is wonderful for shooting and walking the golf course. walking 9 at least once this week with the wife then have a big shoot this weekend in NJ.

I've got family and friends close by and at 64 years old I can still get on a bike and go climbing up to viewpoints like this.

Not a lot of things to be happy for me right now.
But I did win the putting contest in my Men's golf league last week with 3 puts and a perfect score!

I've got work. If I can't have work, I make work. If I can't make work, I'm here wasting time. By 'wasting' I mean more than say an hour over the course of a day. That is actually a pacifier.

Just thinking about my 7 grandkids puts a smile on my face.
Thanks to my wife we were able to raise two very successful kids who are doing their best to contribute to society. My son texted me the other day saying they were picking up another grandkid for us. Seems they've found room for a dog in their lives once again. They've named him Bubba. ![]() I think he'll grow into the name.
