What makes me happy? Not having to worry about getting pregnant, haha!
Honestly, I'm living the dream. I have enough financial security that every day is Saturday. I'm still young enough to turn a few heads. I have a few good friends, and I get to look out at this every morning. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1696456095.jpg |
Just has a friend (I've known since we were 5) come and visit us for a few days. Got laugh about old times B.C., old photos, catch up on life, and enjoy good food and conversation. He is a car guy going back to the `69 Camaro SS he owned when I have my `67 CHevelle SS and he has work on cars all his life until he had to go into management when his health didn't allow working on cars any longer. A genuine motorhead. I took him for a drive down some mountain back roads in the Carrera and he was impressed with how it handled. It was a blast to make another Porsche convert.

The happiest, most fulfilled person I ever met was a dental assistant of mine who lived in a 900 square foot house with her husband and two daughters.
The family wasn’t well off by any means but made the most of what they did have. They didn’t take (or afford) fancy exotic vacations but participated in many school events, BBQs, camping trips etc they could fit into their schedules. She always had a smile and a great story. She taught me to stop and smell the roses. I am blessed to have a great life. Recently we spent two weeks in Hawaii, which was fun, but frankly I’m getting more enjoyment making a 22’ x 5’ x 6’ shed behind the garage with my son. Sitting on my front porch watching fall colors starting. Knowing we planted all the the beautiful trees. Four years into retirement and being financially content. Surviving over 40 years of physical labor and making more money retired then when I was working. Having a smart wife helps!

+1 to unclebilly & capt carrera.
We care, rocket. If there’s anything we can do. If you just need to vent. That’s what PPOT is for. |
Thanks, everyone.

The new dog is settling in well. He’s a nut as you’d expect for a 1 year old and he is lots of fun.
We took my dad out for a feast at a favorite East Indian restaurant tonight. His entire family was there (me and my wife and family and my brother). This is the first time we’ve had everyone together for a meal in a couple years. It was wonderful. After that we took dad for a haircut and a shave. It was a great evening. |
In no particular order

What’s making me happy right now is our new dog, he’s adjusting well and learning. He makes me smile. My kids have started ski race training again this year and we are 3 weeks in. Both kids have amazing coaches this year and are really happy and having fun. The weather this fall has been incredible and we preg checked cows yesterday and only 4 are ‘open’. What’s making you smile these days? |
Loving life, thank the Lord, and those who I share it with. Tomorrow we are adventuring in Cartegana, Colombia for a week.

Today I'm thankful for friends. They help me celebrate good times, provide support during bad times, and give me the chance to offer the same. That's what makes me happy today. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701569844.jpg |

My health and my wife's health. Another clean bill for her from the docs at Duke this week.

One thing that makes me happy and proud today was that 18 year old me joined the Navy and served our country and then used that training to enter and complete a career as a civil servant, a federal employee for a 30 year career.
