Two vehicles, two states…
A few days ago, Ms Rocket was on her way to Burlington, Vermont for her contract work and her power brake assist went out just north of DC. It was towed to the dealer and they worked on it Saturday to replace a vacuum pump. I think it was about $500 or $600, but they called later and said it fell under warranty. So that was good news.
After moving our mom into the new facility today, I left Atlanta and after about an hour, made a pitstop at a rest area. Went to start my truck back up and it turns over but will not fire up. I replaced the relay and the fuse for the fuel pump but it was a no go. So now I wait for 90 minutes for AAA to take me to the Stealership 18 miles away. I’m thinking it’s a fuel pump or the fuel pump pump control module above the spare tire. But… when leaving the facility today, I saw a squirrel two cars over running over towards my car. I thought that little ****er better not have been chewing on wires on my truck. While I was under the hood at the rest area, I found part of an acorn on top of the engine. 😂🤬 It could be a coincidence, but we will find out tomorrow… ![]() Last edited by A930Rocket; 10-06-2023 at 10:39 PM.. |

Two hours and still waiting for AAA.
Supposedly, the tow truck is 16 minutes away… |

Sorry to hear it…I hate to have car trouble when away from home. Seems like often you can drive back and forth to work forever but then get on the road and something happens. Hope it works out for you.

WHat a PITA! Good luck.
It could be worse, you could be young and broke.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a vehicle break down like this somewhere.
Right now it’s three hours from the first request to be towed. I called AAA about 30 minutes ago and they said if they cannot get the driver, they would request another one. I hope that doesn’t mean another 2 to 3 hour wait. |

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Waiting sucks. Hopefully you're waiting somewhere with AC.

Yeah, this sucks.
It’s been 3 1/2 hours and no driver. I’ve called AAA repeatedly and supposedly I’m next with the driver. So much for a 90 minute wait. I did a Google search and called two other towing companies and left voicemails. |

When it rains, it 'dumps'. Geesh. If there was anything on your karma debt it has been paid in full for quite a while.
On the bright side you and the Mrs can be twinsies with matching dealership receipts.

What a sucky thing. Especially if you get to the dealer after it’s closed and have to leave the truck there and Uber to a hotel etc. Arrrgh.

Hopefully they’ll look at my truck right away, but if they don’t, I’m going to buy a test light and a fuel pump driver module. I’ve read the module can go bad and it’s an easy swap. If I have to, I’ll do it in the parking lot. Edit. Hopefully I can get an Uber or taxi from the dealer to the hotel this late, or I’ll be sleeping in the truck. Edit 2. Hopefully, they have a box to drop off the keys and write down what needs to be serviced. Last edited by A930Rocket; 10-06-2023 at 08:45 PM.. |

And 8 hours later, the truck is at the dealer and I’m at the hotel… 💤
The tow truck driver said I wouldn’t find an Uber this late at night in this Podunk town, so he drove me to the hotel. Super nice guy. Give him a $50 tip. Last edited by A930Rocket; 10-06-2023 at 10:40 PM.. |

The dealership just called. They don’t have any technicians today.
Now I need to get it towed another 10 miles to another dealership and hopefully they can look at it… What a disaster. |

The other dealership doesn’t have anybody either and they’re five days out for service. Ughhhh
If I was close to home, I would just have it towed there. |

God this sucks, I almost feel lucky to have had the flu all week vs. this. Sorry for your troubles.
Do you have AAA Premiere? You get one 300 mile tow per year. So worth it!

Picked up the part at AutoZone, went to the dealership, got the keys and the truck started up!😂
My check engine light is on though. I should’ve bought a friggin code reader, although I’ve got six at home. I’m going to head towards Charleston and see what happens. |

I don’t have AAA premier, but I’m going to upgrade now.
Edit. I upgraded to premier, but he said it’s limited to 200 miles and doesn’t take effect for five days. Last edited by A930Rocket; 10-07-2023 at 05:49 AM.. |
