Handy Andy tool set from 60s/70s - any good

My daughter babysits a little guy who is not quite 3 years old and we got him those same building tiles and he loves them. He likes to build towers and car washes for his hot wheels!!! The set also came a couple of wagon looking pieces with wheels and he builds ambulances out of them. Lol.

That's hilarious. Our g-sons had "mega bloks" when they were really young, and they used to make car washes for their hot wheels!
I think their takes her car through a car wash.

I'm 74 my dad bought me set before he died in 61 so I'm guessing it was 1959. I still have most of them. I ended up a cabinet maker ,historic building and car restorer. Amazing what a box of tools can lead too. Just today I was thinking about getting an original box and collect all my tools. I have a red tool box I keep in my kitchen coal cook stove I no longer use. I like to have some tools handy so I don't have to run to my garages or basement. It's amazing how often I use the hammer, screw driver and wood mallet.

Cool. We haven't made the plunge for a set for the grandkids yet. The older one is old enough for them, but the younger one would probably be far more excited about it, and also far more likely to run around the house beating on stuff with the tools, so we're holding off for now.

I am running a "Shop" class for 8 8-12 year old home schoolers. So far we had a 2 hour intro to all things hand tools and shop safety. Next up is intro to saws and fastners then on to building a bird house. Once it warms up a bit we'll get into bigger shop tools, car basics, electrical, plumbing, sound/audio. The point in my mind is to get them exposed to things and see what sparks thier interest.

I had the Handy Andy metal tool box as a kid. Still have the box, and the hammer and square are in my tool box today. My Dad's name was Andy!
