I actually don't mind the look now that I see a real one.
Sort of like a futuristic Hummer.

hell yes.

they still have my Deposit, and I will wait for the final MSPR, which I assume is way above my "Beer budget" (vs Champagne palette).

I'd drive one especially now that I know how it looks bothers people that have no dog in the fight...haha.. eff-YES!

I already strategically installed the TESLA charger in a location that can hand that beast in my driveway.

I saw one of these this morning on the drive to work. Fisker Ocean. Not bad looking in person and surprisingly affordable ($40-70k)....

I saw some small fender benders that looked like they would "buff out" but ended up costing in the $40k range after diminished value, rental car fees, etc.

The dent repair was not $41k but the factory repair was because the driver's rear metal wrapped to the customer's door (over the roof). Probably costs that Craigster mentioned are in that total. That guy is good that does the pulling and the glue tool kit is $4k retail online.

I'll bet paintless dent removal was $5k at least but he could have gotten away with $15k. Somewhere in the middle?

There's something disturbing with hearing $40 to $70k is affordable. I suspect cars would cost $15k if the government wasn't in the mix.

Adjust for the $7,500-10,000 in credits you'd get and $30K net isn't bad for a nice well-equipped electric car that will probably save you $100 +/- per month vs fuel. Fisker's coming out with the Pear, which will base out at $29,900 (plus destination I'm sure).

Government regulations have run up the prices of cars for sure, but they're safer and get much better fuel economy. Manufacturers are putting a lot more standard equipment in them as well.

Lots of cars under $20K these days:

I saw one of the Tesla trucks on the road about 4miles from our place yesterday. We were driving past it going the opposite direction, so I didn't get a great look. I'll have to see it a few more times, but certainly initial thought is "yuck". But maybe it'll grow on me. I'll be curious to see if I run into it any more (if it's local) or if that was a one and done because it was passing through (which would make a lot more sense. They don't seem like the ideal thing for out here where I live, but then I do live close enough to 3 big cities that you could get to any of the 3 and back on a charge, I suspect.

I've seen a Rivian truck too a while back. It's no a bad looking thing.

Sweet baby Jesus! I just saw the Cybertruck weights between 8,000 and 10,000 pounds! That's equivalent to one African elephant, or five rhinos.
I'm guessing 4,500 lbs of the Cybertruck is battery?

Trucks are heavy. Per Google, 2024 Ford F350 - 5,854 to 8,127 lbs. So I'm guessing the Telsa is hauling around 2000-3000# of batteries.

My 2001 GMC diesel 4x4 extended cab dually weighs around 7200 lbs per local trash dump scale.

Publicity stunt for Tesla, nothing more to it than this and everyone just laps it up

vash 11-05-2023 08:30 AM

there are some ugly cars to me on the road these days. you don't know which ones I consider ugly because I don't talk about stuff that makes no difference in my life. I do what I do, and DONT BUY one. easy. ( I do slip sometimes, but I know it when I do)

it speaks to me more when a person complains about crap that in reality isn't even a blip of any involvement in their lives.

The Cybertruck is gimmicky. In its current form it is not likely it will ever be used as a work truck, or even as a recreational vehicle.

The bed is so small you can’t even lay a bicycle flat in it.

It also appears to be a terrible off road vehicle.

. . . but I hear it does have heated cup holders for Starbucks Lattes.

My latest thought? There's no way I i can afford a $70,000 to $100,000 truck. Let me know when someone starts marketing something that's $20,000.

Cybertruck vs 911 drag race

https://youtu.be/0rlzCHsDoxE

Mike Billings 12-01-2023 04:43 AM

Not buying the drag race, as I read it on DailyMail.com.

Cybertuck is 6843 lbs plus towing at least 4000 lb car and trailer with only 845 hp.

That's about 12.8 lbs/hp. Super slow rig.

Who to blame? Who do I trust less? DailyMail or Musk?

The EoE (electrification of everything) means more SF6 released into the atmosphere. Look it up.
