Perfect Saturday morning video - thanks.

With all the YouTube coverage this thing is getting it looks like it's actually going to happen?

stealthn 12-04-2023 07:19 AM

I neither love of hate it, I think it’s interesting, but too heavy and too expensive. I am wondering how it’s allowed with all those sharp corners? Only in the US I think…

cockerpunk 12-04-2023 07:31 AM

not much of a launch, because they still arnt going to be widely available until 2025.

Dantilla 12-04-2023 12:43 PM

So the Cybertruck is the best truck at the racetrack. Yay.

It's no competition for my old F-250 at the lumberyard.
Which is where one can find my old F-250 fairly often.

Full sheets of plywood fit inside.
Drop the tailgate, and 12 foot sheets of sheetrock slide right in.

Common to toss in a couple kayaks and head to the lake.
I made a rack for two more kayaks to sit above the box for when we use all four kayaks.

I'm sure lots of folks will enjoy the incredible performance of their Cybertruck as they carry a couple grocery bags home.

Until they make an electric truck with a full 8-foot box, and short, two-door cab, I'll have to keep using gasoline.

Needs to be a dually.

I hope they buy one as well as a Tesla semi because it passed another regular semi going up a big hill in a Tesla vid I watched.

They had a video where a sled that got progressively heavier was pulled by a bunch of trucks. Ford F350 diesel got circa 280 ft and Cyber Beast got 315. So you need to buy the Tesla for that reason alone.

Is there a back seat? Is the seat like my 81 SC but with less headroom?

I like Musk and the rockets and the S and 3 but this does not settle well with me. It's stupid.

MMARSH 12-04-2023 03:16 PM

I like Teslas, but I was not a fan of the CyberTruck. I really just thought they had missed the mark. But the more I've read about the engineering, the more impressed I am. Steer by wire, 48 volt system, ect. The Hagerty video is very informative. Not sure what you couldn't do with it, that you could do with any truck that has a 6.5 inch bed.

berettafan 12-04-2023 03:32 PM

On pickups the longer bed is where it's at! After decades of short box 1/2 tons or smaller i went 3/4 ton with a 6.8' bed and man is it nice.

Jason certainly sold me... Amazing! :)

LEAKYSEALS951 12-04-2023 03:44 PM

Now, if these things came standard with a functional spare raptor engine pointing out the back.
Or perhaps two, one on each side above it, like razor crest.

(Dear Elon, if you are listening, you are welcome....) ;)

I see what you did there...

Lumber rack doesn't fit your picture of the Tesla truck, huh? I wonder how long it will take.

I know one thing, if I were to regroup into the handyman business and drive one of those, I'd get noticed,. Getting noticed, AKA publicity, is good for business.

Oracle 12-05-2023 07:28 AM

Bunch of rich show offs will buy this truck just to park it on the driveway.
No credible tradeperson will buy this for the the daily abuse of a service truck. One battery pack/generator gives all the power needed to run most tools all day long.

Nice and modern but at that price it's probably the next Delorean.

I'm not sure how many people want a 'handyman' that drives a $100k truck. I'd prefer a guy in a used mini-van.

Just one thing... The Stainless Steel. Will it degrade in time and look awful?

There is some risk of scratches, which can be very difficult to buff and blend. But in general, it will last forever provided there's enough nickel in it. If necessary the entire can be 're-buffed'.

Tesla are a bit secretive with respect to the material spec. They use their own name, UI think internally it's HFS. Hard ...... Stainless.

The metal can always be polished. Not thinking that it will help the look of the truck though, possibly painted flat black and in total darkness would do it.
