Once, I saw Mitch Hedburg, Dave Atell and Lewis Black together about 20 years ago. While it was funny, I haven't seen a need to go to another live comedy performance since. I have some friends that love it though and go often.

Years ago (>30) I was able to periodically get free tickets to a Comedy Club when we lived in Dallas. We probably went half a dozen times.
We saw Rosie O'Donnell (when she was actually funny and hadn't gone wacko yet) but mostly enjoyed the ventriloquist Jeff Dunham!

I think I may have gone to a comedy club once, although I can't remember it or anything about it, it's just a vague recollection. But I have watched a lot of stand-up on TV over the years. I love it.

I used to watch a lot of "An evening at the Improv" when I was in my 20s.

If someone said that tomorrow I could be a successful comic that could support my family at least as well as I do today, I'd quit my job right now.

Lots of great comics over the years. Some of my favorites now, John Segura, Matt Rife, Jeff Arcuri, Shane Gillis, Andrew Schulz, Nate Bargatz, and there's a few others.

I've been to several standup comic shows over the years. I have to say most were not worth it. The best I ever saw was Cheech & Chong around 1970.

I went to a lot of shows in San Diego in the 80's. In those days it was relatively cheap and you could sit up close.

Sam Kinison was incredible live.

One of my all time favorites is still Robin Williams.

We went to a Ron White show years ago. He had us laughing so hard I hoped he would tell a dud joke so I could catch my breath. My face and side were in hurting. It was at a local comedy club and we were just a few feet from the stage. He kept us laughing hard.

I saw Tommy Chong in the early 80's. (they had split up)
Most comedians have diff rated shows..depending on the audience.
This one with Tommy was def rated at least Mature....he brought women out of the audience and thoroughly embarrassed them.

It was too much...would of been better if Cheech was there with him.

I saw Gallagher in his prime, he was funny. I also saw Louie Anderson at The Comedy Store and George Carlin at the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara, both funny as hell.

I have worked with a few comedians. Billy Crystal, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Jim Carrey, Robin Williams. They just seemed like they were miserable when not "on", not happy and upbeat at all.

On the other hand, Tim Allen, Eddie Murphy, Drew Carey and Penn and Teller were all pretty jovial off camera. Teller was a trip, he's the brains of that duo and comes up with 90% of their routine, Penn is just the "Carnival Barker".

I think he's the only one I'd pay to see now. maybe Dave Chapelle. I kick myself for not seeing Don Rickles when he was alive, he'd have been a hoot!

I vaguely recall going to see (horror of horror's) Bill Cosby in Vegas. Way before he became famous for his abuses of women.

I saw George Carlin in the late 80s in Pensacola, Florida at the Saenger Theatre once.

I used to love Gallagher when I was younger. Louie Anderson, also funny. And one of the first comedy shows that I remember seeing was George Carlin on HBO, must have been 1982-1984 somewhere, also absolutely hysterical.

I've heard that many/most comedians have emotional baggage which is how/why they turn to comedy.

Tim A and Eddie also hilarious.

I have seen a lot of comedians through the years. My wife and I enjoy live standup. We are going to see Seinfeld again in January after seeing him the last time he came through the space coast. Joe Koy, Wayne Brady, Jay Leno, Joe Machi, Steven Wright, Gallagher, Kathleen Madigan, Brian Posehn, among others.

I used to go to comedy clubs quite often. Far more good experiences than bad. Going with a group can add to the experience IMO.

Saw George Carlin way back while in college. We were literally sore from laughing by the end of the show. As an aside.....Leon Redbone opened for Carlin.....if you're under 50, probably have no clue...Leon was fantastic...as a story teller, and a musician.

Saw Carlos Mencia about 20 years ago when he was red-hot. I was in Jacksonville, FL, so of course there were a few intoxicated good ole boys who thought heckling him would be a good idea (where's your burritos?.....can you play Freebird......I need a my grass cut, you available? etc.) I have never seen hecklers so thoroughly emasculated, intellectually destroyed, and emotionally left for dead in my life. The remainder of the audience gave Carlos a standing ovation as the slain hecklers slid out the side door as soon as the house lights were re-darkened and the destruction was complete.

One of the very few times I wish I had possessed a smart phone for recording an event. It would have gone viral, I tell ya.....a billion views......I wouda had a GT2!!

had friends back in the day who were in the scene. saw a lot of horrible stand up. some good. mid 90s watched joe rogan perform in front of an overwhelmingly black audience. he opened with 10 minutes of michael jackson child molester jokes.

ultimately never seemed like a good thing to take a date to. i would be laughing at jokes that left her appalled. concerts and movies were always better.

I took my son to see John Mulaney . I think we tinkled ourselves laughing . I definitely plan on taking in another comedy show . Sure , you can watch it at home on Netflix, but it made for a fun night out on the town . His opener had us in stitches also
