Bad last 12 hours

Found out late last night that an old airplane buddy died in a small plane crash yesterday...

Woke up this morning to a dead hot tub pump....

Kitchen sink light fixture ballast went out this morning....

Driving to work this morning I a hit big effing rat with antlers (deer) with my older Porsche Cayenne.....

I think should just go back home and crack open the vodka bottle.

That’s a right giant load of Shiite to happen in one day. I wouldn’t touch any power tools and would hit the Vodka as you suggest.

I’m sorry to hear of your Bud.

Both career airline pilots.... both flew lots of general aviation stuff also. They piled into a bean field in flat land Ohio at likely steep angle based on what is left of the Cherokee 6 as shown on a local news channel story (in video it appeared the rear stabs are the only parts not reduced to flattened burnt rubble all in one small spot). Happened midday with no known weather issues.

Don't know if anyone will ever know what happened but it is strange. Many years ago he helped me considerably with one of my airplane projects. He was very active in our Toledo Ohio area EAA chapter. Had some fun times with him in airplanes along with some fun times in the warbird campground at Oshkosh. He was a real character..... I still can't believe it.

Tim, I certainly feel for you, as most of us here have lost close friends at this point. That “surreal” feeling is very familiar.
Aircraft are very much like motorcycles, in that you can certainly increase your odds of an accident by being inexperienced, and conversely reduce them greatly by years and years of seat time. But… there are still going to be some instances where the most experienced of us still encounter some unforeseen or unrecoverable scenario, and the unspeakable occurs. And those are the ones that shake us the most.
Again, very sorry to hear about your friend. May his memory be a blessing.

Sorry about your good friend, Tim. All the other stuff certainly didn't help the mood for the day.

Many of us have been in your shoes and speaking only for myself it does help me realize how quickly things can change and how important it is to grab life by the cajones every chance you get - because you never know.

I know I am preaching to the choir here because of what you've posted here in the past - you are doing just that. I still think about that recent adventure you and your wife went on with your VF500.

Just keep doing that and maybe hoist one (or three) to your good buddy - I know he'd appreciate it!

It's a heavy blow that won't go away for a long time, but I hope the source of the failure is found for the safety of all others. The random and unexplained is the worst. The entire community has lost a few good souls on that day. On this side or not they will still be up there. My condolences.
