Some of these pit bull type dogs look pretty vicious.

OK, a valid point. Bad analogy on my part.

That said, if someone or their dog is doing me harm the justice needs to be served to the level that is appropriate. If there is damage, it needs to be replaced. If there is injury then medical bills, missed work days need to be reimbursed. If there is emotional damage done (think child that is hurt and now will not go outside for any reason) there is a valid reason to make a claim beyond the cost of stuff.

I would say that in most cases, the dog owner didn't take appropriate measures to prevent the attack. I had a friend who loved his dogs but one of them became prone to biting people and he told me that he didn't want me to come into the house (as I had for years) because of the danger. He did his due diligence to protect me from the dog. If he let the dog run loose and it bit a neighbor then he is certainly would have been responsible and would have to deal with the consequences.

I will venture to say that if the owner takes the appropriate attitude and response then 99% of the the there will be no lawsuit. If the owner doesn't do proper precautions or cops an attitude then they need to be paying.

Must be something wrong with every single gun I ever had, and every single pit bullI ever saw. Guns never shot anyone, dogs never bit anyone.

Astonishing that anyone could compare an inanimate object to a living creature with a will of its own.

I'm going out on a limb here and guessing the meaning of this statement to be: None of my guns ever were used to shoot anyone. None of the dogs I have ever seen have bit someone.

An admittedly small statically sample, but valid in the experience of the poster.

The dog bites you hear about have a lot in common with the gun violence you read about, way more than you ever get certain folks to understand.

If it was "my" (insert breed here) - then sure.

The problem is the human - not the breed......

You would have been there a long time, assuming you didn't die. Their skulls are like concrete and they don't feel pain. How did you get it off?

^^^ I would have been swinging for the body first...the head was attached to my ankle. A heavy pipe to the body would have sent him squealing.

The daughter came over (at a slow jog) yelling "Buddy...let go". When she was close, he released.

Went to the vet on Wednesday and met a new really great vet. We got to talking, she was easy to talk to and then I found out why. People. I was one of the few that she gets to see in any day that is responsible and caring for my pet. The stories I heard from this young lady were just ... well, IDK. One thing the was prevalent with her pet owners was how inept and unprepared they are to have and animal. Dogs, with no training topped the list.

As it happens, there was an out of control pit bull in there at the time. 5 people were required to handle the dog. When the owner left I saw prejudice. Fat, tattooed, sloppy huge bare muffin top and apparently born w/o a brain, in size 10 flip flops being towed by a very aggressive pit just peeling out to get to the door. Who would have that in their house along with that dog is beyond my comprehension.

Then came the stories of vets being mauled. Un-frickin'-believable.

Been a ups guy for over 30 years. I've been bitten by a dog 5 times. Two heelers, one Dalmatian, one Lab, and a Border Collie. Never been attacked by a Pit. Just a delivery guys observation.

Prolly because it’s normal for the owners of pit bulls and their friends to climb in through the bedroom window its no big deal to pits.

Not even a Evil Roll of Paper Towels is safe...............

Why does she just stand there and not try to run inside?

Local to me Next door neighborhood app yesterday . A pit bull running loose in a near by neighborhood grabbed a larger mixed breed dog that was laying in its own yard . The pit dragged/bit/ripped the dog apart until it was dead . Totally unprovoked . The pit is now with animal control and the owners notified .

My opinion the pit should be put down immediately and the owners fined . Some sort of compensation to the deceased dogs owners should happen just not sure what . Had I witnessed this and was armed I would have eliminated the problem . The only positive out of this situation is that a child/adult wasn't killed .
