I know I made some many years ago. I can't remember anything about it which suggests it must have been good. I made up a few gift bottles too which were well received by friends.
Just a thought. Around here bought lemons (supermarket ones) can have a waxy coating to make them look nice. Homegrown are the only way to go. Or farmers market. |

The only liquor drink that I can remember making was Kahlua in my 20's.
Vanilla bean, some other liquor and something else..I forget. Let it set for a month or so. I think it was cheaper than buying it already made. ![]()

Here's a recipe for what I remember, except I know we used a vanilla bean (sliced length-wise) in it also. After setting for a few weeks...it's very good.

My recipe uses instant coffee, vanilla, sugar and booze. I usually buy cheap vodka and run it through a charcoal filter
Steve has it above. I seem to remember my sister making a mandarincello out of those little oranges. Pretty sweet, would be okay as a mixer

If I were to make that recipe for Kahlua...I would double it at least.
Too much time for a small amount...lol I remember when we made it...the finished product filled a glass gallon jug. ![]()

Yep,did that with the Limoncello. Just peeling Myers lemons, letting the peels soak for as long as you like and add simple syrup.

I believe they call it a "digestivo". I got into making that stuff last Christmas. I used 151 Everclear. I zested the lemon and made Gin Lemon Seven with the lemons. I found a calculation for how much simple syrup to add to cut the ABV. The stuff was HOT prior to adding the simple syrup. Next time my daughter is home we're gonna make some more.

^^^ I love how thick it pours. Also great in Lemon drop Martini.

Hmmm, this thread caught my eye because I just bought some Limoncello yesterday and never heard of it before. But mine is the La Croix sparkling water version (I don't ingest sugar or artificial sweeteners in any form). So this is just carbonated water, with lemon, lime and vanilla. Best sparkling water ever.
