NTSB & Speed Reduction Tech
Has anyone heard of this? Is it click bait, or being seriously considered?
I think this is akin to controlling the flow of an ice skating rink. Everyone does well enough until you start policing the flow. Then it all goes to hell. https://techcrunch.com/2023/11/16/ntsb-speed-reduction-tech-in-every-new-car/

That is almost certainly not Constitutional

Thing is, bureaucrats don't care whether a regulation they impose is constitutional or not. They impose them, then wait to see if anybody cares enough, or has money enough, to fight the regulation via the courts system.
Orwell was an optimist.

Q: What's the worse that can happen? A: Start cutting off the shark fin on your roof.

It depends on the way it's implemented. If they can limit the speed to something reasonable, like 150% of posted speeds under 40 mph, I'm all for it. It wouldn't affect me at all, and it might protect my grandkids from some drunken asshat going 70 in a school zone.
And, yes, my grandchildren's lives are more important to me than anyone's "freedom" to drive at any damn speed they feel like driving.

Like a metered on ramp light but more invasive.
Works great till a speed restricted car gets rear ended. |

I see a lot of stick-on covers made from lead and/or wire matrix. Easy enough.
For the rest of us...

I'll open my car-share app and order a ride. In several minutes my car will show up and off I'll go. Since all cars have AI, I will be transported to my destination in an efficient, collaborative, manner. I'll pass my time much as I would at home. I'll read, watch TV, or listen to music. When I get to my destination there's no need to find parking. I'll simply disembark. The car will park itself, or go meet the next rider. And the solution for mixing in non-autonomous vehicles is to restrict the highways, and what lanes, can be used by people driven cars. This will only be needed for a short period. The ease and expediency of using autonomous vehicles will be impossible to resist.

No doubt, there will be a economy class, mid range cost, and first class levels of cars and cleanliness and ride. For many retired people, it will be cheaper than owning a car. The commuters will have to likely own their own car for a while, except in big cities with mass transit. Oklahoma City metro area is 1,200 square miles. There is a street car system for the downtown coore area only. Cars are just a necessity here.

Then they will push the dumb cars as obsolete. Maybe a good rebate from the feds for your p-cars...
Outside of metropolitan areas, autonomous will be useless. Deer. Ice. Foul weather... But why invest in autonomous? The rest of the world does the whole mass transport by rail... Cheaper. reliable. Low tech... The shift to give up personal freedoms labeled as safer alternatives and an easier lifestyle...

I like driving; I don't like being driven. I don't ever want to give up driving.
That said, I wouldn't mind being able to put on the "cruise control" and take a nap for an hour or two on a really long trip.

The 4th Amendment lets cops pull you over if you’re speeding. While they’re there they can sniff around, decide they sense some illegal activity, and tear your car apart. All perfectly legal.
More commonly if a cop sees you going 50 in a 30 zone they’ll pull you over, check your insurance, take your license back to their car where they’ll sit with it for 20 minutes, come back and hand you a speeding ticket with a $110 (or more) fine attached. OR The automatic system can sense you going 50 in a 30 zone, slow your happy ass back down to 30, and you go on your happy way.

How can an adult fail to see the second option is unconstitutional?
Don't like it? Get to work on amending it, stop wasting time here
