Why do people like my Blazer?

My 'Winter Beater' is an old '94 Chevy Blazer.
Kind of a weird oddball, as it has a 5-speed manual transmission.
With its short wheelbase, it negotiates the tight switchbacks up to my house much easier than the F-250 when snowbanks encroach.

What has surprised me, and totally baffles my wife, is the positive comments it gets.
"Where did you find that?"
"I've been looking for one of those"
"Lemme know when you want to sell it"
"That's a classic!"

Earlier today I picked up a couple items from the parts counter at the local Jeep dealer.
When I started leaving, a salesman ran out of the showroom to come take a look.
Really? This old thing, when you have brand-new Wranglers right here?
"Nothing better than a V-8 with a manual transmission!"

A few years ago, if one wanted a Blazer with a manual tranny, one could trot down to their local Chevy dealer, and get one.
Obviously, they were not popular enough, or Chevy would continue to offer them.
Now that they are no longer available, why do so many seem to want one?
Or do I just keep running into the few people as weird as myself?

the dimensions. It has one of those mathematically pleasing sets of dimensions that are organically aesthetic.

That is a nice Blazer. I also like older ones with removable tops.

It has a sort of "brick front" look that is historically appealing. At least to me.

Blazer is the original SUV. A short wheelbase Suburban with a cool factor.

New SUV's and pickups are hideous looking monstrosities. That Blazer harkens back to an era - not long ago - when designers didn't get inspiration from the cartoon characters of their yoot.

It's got adorable styling Dan, in a striking color and what appears to be excellent condition. I don't know anything about these vehicles but I'd guess its intrinsic value is higher than what it would sell for. It call it a 'keeper.'

BTW, your PM Inbox was full last time I tried.

Gosh I miss winters there. So quiet. Really, really silent and still. Yes, you can hear the snow fall!

Blazers are cool again according to the high school kids across the road.

Fieros are too. I really don’t get that one.

All the OB Chevys are hot right now.

The 2WD reg. cabs are in huge demand and bringing strong money.

A manual in a 4WD is a rare bird, lots to like there and Shaun nailed the reason why.

The Blazer "blazed" the SUV trail before they were called "SUVs". The fact that it has a frame and built like a truck and not a car makes it a capable and sought after classic vehicle. We had a 1998 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer edition and 4x4, fully loaded, even had a power sunroof, skid plate package, everything, Wedgewood Blue exterior and sand leather interior and a 3rd row seat It had a 5.4 Triton and towing package also, the thing could tow anything. Damn I really.miss that gas guzzling truck!!!

Looks good but I think that is a 2-door Tahoe, not a Blazer. Does it say "Blazer" anywhere on it? I'm ready to be corrected but I thought that Blazers were the mid-size, S-10 based rigs back then and the first Tahoes were all 2-doors. Maybe the Tahoe name started in '95(?)

I used to get comments like that all the time about my 1994 Z71 pickup.. I sold it recently for $15K to a guy who offered me cash at a gas station.. I told him so many people have been wanting this truck for so many years but you just caught me on a good day!.. Now I figure I could have gotten more for it, but it was a hassle free sale so I'm fine with it!

80s and 90's cars are superhot right now. Not sure if it is cause or effect but look up the Radwood events.

Odd ball and uncomonly optioned cars have always been desirable.

Anything that is manual that is uncommonly manual is super desirable. Seems like shorter is always better for collectibility of trucks as well.

Your blazer is kinda in the center of a venn diagram of traits that get millenial and gen x enthusiasts hot and bothered.

Its pretty cool I dont blame them.

Your Blazer is okay.

Dr. Jack's, though, were off the hook ... the ones he wore and the ones he coached.

I was thinking the same thing with a twist: wins millions and earn the Purple Blazer.

It is a car many people have never seen, only the drivers of the era know about them.

It is a car that Jay Leno calls a "conversation starter". My 86 El Camino is the same way. It is not a car for introverts. I have someone comment om my El Camino virtually every time I drive it. Lost of guys that had dads, uncles or grandfathers that had one. My 911 gets regular comments, but not as many as the El Camino.

The only bad thing about my El Camino is I can't have an affair, as I get spotted all over town by friends, and even my wife. The good news is having an affair it right under getting full facial tattoos and setting my hair on fire on my want list.
