Jason Camissa and Jason from Engineering Explained geek out on the Lucid Sapphire

This is a fascinating video, but it is almost exclusively 2 car dudes talking about nerdy details. I enjoy videos by both, and this has some cool/interesting geeky stuff about the Lucid. I don't really keep up with the insanity of the EV market. Maybe this was all stuff that everyone else already knew.

This video has now dropped about the Porsche 911 S/T. Holy moly, this thing revs to 9k. I guess it's a stripped down, street-oriented GT3RS. It's ~80# lighter than the GT3RS.

We were returning from the coast this fall. We rolled up on a Lucid and my wife was checking it out as we rolled down the road together. The driver noticed her looking and literally launched the car while were both doing 60 mph. I swear it hit a 100 mph in under 2 seconds. I've driven the Taycan Turbo S and that thing was amazingly fast as well. I dig ICE cars but I also dig crazy amounts of torque too so I will probably own an EV at some point. Rivian will probably be the EV truck/SUV for me.

Yeah. If performance is your desire, ICE’s are so over.

Interesting for sure. Lucid is doing amazing things for EV technology.

I can’t watch anymore videos with these two, however. Jason from Engineering is unbearable.

It used to be, when Uncle Leo or Grandma Frances put their car into drive instead of reverse as they were attempting to back out of a parking spot, the car, capable of 10-second-or-so 0-60 times, would lurch forward, causing them, in a moment of panic, to floor it. The car would then jump the curb, crash through the plate glass window and travel 10-20 feet inside the building before coming to rest.

What happens when Uncle Leo gets his hands on one of these?

The other video for the Porsche S/T is live now. There's some very interesting details about Porsche (and other cars) gearing, and how obnoxiously high gearing is Californias fault.

Depends on what performance you are interested in.

Stoplight to stoplight, sure, impressive. Going from LA to Salt Lake City, NFW

~700 miles. I would not want to have to charge an EV on long road trips, but I think PorscheGal has talked about taking long road trips in her plaid and that with good planning, she can spend 15-20 mins charging which wouldn't add that much time to a long trip. Still, I can gas up my Boxster in 2-3 mins, so 15-20 is a lot longer and would, to me, feel like an eternity.
