^^^ My opinion is he's a product of his environment . Drugs were involved , was that during pregnancy of mother ? Or as he was growing up ? Certainly factors of not being a good person . But I feel that ultimately we are all responsible for our behavior and actions . Others may disagree . I stand by my statements .

His family claims he was exposed to crack cocaine before he was born, and that he suffers from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

He's clearly subject to violent behavior and society should be protected from him, even if that requires life long incarceration. I would like to see the medical community deal with it as necessary. I don't think that's happened yet for him. I would leave it to the medical experts to say if he's responsible for his behavior and actions. I'm no expert.

I don't know what the best course of action for him is. I also think its unfair and unsafe for the other inmates to be exposed to him.

He needs to be put away likely for ever but not in a country club prison. He needs forced help to deal with his demons. If this is indeed a result of a junkie mom, she needs to be locked up and held accountable as well. She created a monster.

If he's put away with other inmates...he needs to be hobbled. :D

He's been screwed by nature (due to mother's drug use when pregnant) and nurture (if mom was a junkie, it's unlikely he grew up in a good place). He needs to be in a psychiatric prison where he gets treatment/help to hopefully, let him live out his days, fairly trouble free. He's done some very bad sheiße. Unless you think he needs capital punishment, he may as well get treatment (presumably that would be counseling as well as prescriptions) so he doesn't cause more trouble for himself or others while he's incarcerated.

Even if they found some sort of prescription that "cured" him of his violent outbursts, you can't let him out with society. 1 He can't afford the drugs that he'd need, and 2 even if the drugs were free, you can't trust that he'd take them as required, and 3 he'd end up back in a crap environment where he'd almost certainly go back to his old ways.

Unfortunately, that means that he needs to be separated from society.

^^^ So...hobbling is too much?:)

My thoughts too. That's why I recommended Hart Island.

Indicted for attempted murder now.

I'm sure he'll plead not guilty by reason of insanity.

That would be a waste of breath because he was speaking coherently and understanding what was going on around him, (on camera!), immediately prior to his actions. Insanity defenses are not applicable to simply losing your temper and going batschit in the moment because you don't like being sentenced to jail.

The guy undoubtedly has psych issues but I'm pretty sure that an insanity defense won't fly or be allowed. We'll see.

Good luck to him on trying to get a judge to believe him.

Steve Carlton 02-29-2024 11:15 AM

Wouldn't his defense opt for a jury trial? With his history, do you think a jury will vote unanimously to reject an insanity defense? My expectation is that he'll spend the needed time in a mental institution before being released. At least, that's what's supposed to happen.

stevej37 02-29-2024 11:20 AM

Yeah...I don't know. I just assume a judge will be needed to send it to trial.
Attacking a judge is about level with shooting a cop.

Steve Carlton 02-29-2024 11:35 AM

You'd have to be crazy, right? Being not guilty by reason of insanity doesn't mean he walks. It just means he goes to a mental facility.

I always believed mental facilities were something like "Would you like another cup of tea Dear? " But they are not. It just means the other inmates are mad as well. Can be quite a dangerous place.

I read that article the other day and it made me sick . That POS deserves a railroad spike driven in his forehead .

stevej37 03-01-2024 12:03 PM

^^^ agree

I saw the other day that Peacock is soon releasing a video/documentary on his whole life.
I hope the proceeds go to Natalee's family somehow.

edit: I believe it's already out.
