I wonder if Yuki manages to keep his ride after the contract expires?

GH85Carrera 03-02-2024 01:21 PM

So Max gets a grand slam.

Pole,
leads every lap,
fastest lap,
And most important, wins the races.

Rather dominate performance by Red Bull. And one thing for sure the RB is not a clone of the Red Bull.

Max could have done a pit stop on the last lap and still win.

Riccardo said after the race that they discussed this swap before the race . The strategy was whoever ended up on soft tires at the end of the race and if they were behind the teammate on medium or hard the swap would be ordered .

So if Danny Ric is telling the truth then Yuki's complaining isn't warranted . Yuki is a hard nosed racer and that's a good thing . But constantly complaining/swearing/losing it are not well received and won't help his career .

Now Jos is calling for Horner to be out. This is getting uglier by the hour.

Rtrorkt 03-02-2024 08:25 PM

Bahrain boring

How's that reduction in wind tunnel time working out for the fast guys? Appears to much better than the teams that are allocated more time for being slow.

Want to change things up? Put 20 kilos of weight on the red bollocks. That'd put a dent on the 3/10ths per lap they put on the Ferraris.

At least Carlos made the strategy call before the team did!

And Monkies at Toro Rosso is again making the same stupid strategy calls at the most inappropriate time like he did at Ferrari, so they got that going for them.

Looks like Fred nailed it with his prediction of 19 drivers know the score.

And they are going to drag this out 'til 8 December?! Yikes.

Edit: and fuch jos.

Adrian Newey smiling about the Red Bull performance . His way of saying to Mercedes hey I can make this design work how come you couldn't ? I can't wait to see what upgrades he and the team come up with . It's only one race and a lot can change but all challengers including Perez have a mountain to climb to catch Max .

Jos Verstappen needs to keep his mouth shut , yeah he's Max's dad but he has no power within the team . Right or wrong an outside firm investigated Horner and all involved . The results of that investigation were turned over to RB management/owners . A decision was made based on the info . If people have a problem with the decision then they have an issue with the management/owners group . That's my opinion . To me a power play has been brewing within the company for a while now .

It's like NASCAR but without the fighting in the pitlane :D

This has to be photoshopped, right? No way there's that big a difference.

Haas cars are at the top of the speed charts as usual, BUT they can't make the entry, apex or exit work.
American Indy Car logic in the F1 world.

I've seen angles from which the size difference is even more apparent. When Alonso did a few laps in his championship Renault last year (or was it the year before) I remember my first reaction at seeing it leave pit lane - "that can't be real". It is astonishing how much bigger the cars have gotten.

From my limited understanding, this era of "super sized" F1 cars has put the really tight circuits like Monaco in jeopardy. It would be hard enough to pass on that track in a foot race, has always been difficult in an F1 car, but they are now almost literally out of room. It's like Larry, Curley, and Moe trying to go through a door at the same time.

I think while that is mostly true, the cars are not any wider than many of those in the past. Length is one thing, but getting around the other car when it's as wide as they are is just as much of an issue.

Same thing in karts. My old Margay might be 42" at the rear. Today's sprint karts look to be 4'! In fact I saw a quick post that said the kart max is 55". I know I would have trouble today driving a kart simply due to the width.

CurtEgerer 03-03-2024 01:28 PM

Looks like about the same difference with Indycar vs F1 car:

I am going to cut Logan Sargeant some slack on his race . I just read they were having issues with the steering wheel . He eventually came into the pits and they swapped a different wheel . But that put him over a lap down . I expect better at the next race . Same for Albon .

Jos has no power within the team but he has a lot of influence over Max and who he races for. Any top team would move mountains to get Max if he suddenly became available.

Regarding the Horner investigation, it was reportedly carried out by RedBull itself (not the team). Not really independent and RB has provided no transparency into the process.

By todays criteria, it seems like they could be. If you were asking me, I would say no. She was a continuing participant in the chats so whatever CH was saying could not have been too repellant, in my opinion.
