Max is already on his way to an easy 4th title and could not care less about staying in F1 for a long time or having more titles than Lewis (said so many times, it would take too long). Not sure what the endgame for Jos/Max is, more $ ? More freedom ? Leaving the best team ? avoiding getting caught in the coup? Proving he is the reason RB got all those titles (not newey) ?

Supposedly there are clauses tied to Horner's departure such as Newey could leave and Max also, there are various factions inside redbull, one of which wants Horner gone. Jos has basically completely burned bridges with Horner this week end, and was also spotted chatting to Toto so now rumors are swirling about Verstappen going to Mercedes.. But contract wise ? probably cannot happen with Horner in place.. No way around it all, it's basically a battle of the heirs of power after the owner died. Maybe Horner made a play for it that's backfired?

One thing's for sure, he's not going to Alpine ;-( 2 tech/aero guys "resigned" already, Harman and DeBeer. It's 11 Kgs overweight as it did not pass the crash test initially, and the engine is apparently from an entry level Clio with so little power it's elegible for the eco-bonus, crap.. There goes my underdog team.

Man, that's ^^^^ much ado about nothing. A jack touched the car. Oh, wow.

What these children ought to do is unload their cars and crews inside an American dirt track and settle the issues like good ol' boys do. I think a dirt mile would work.

So the FIA names a guy from an authoritarian State where there are no elected officials or free-speech as their president - solely to appease the middle-east financial backers (sportswashers) of motorsport - and then they're surprised he issued an authoritarian directive to an underling?

With respect to the car scale photos on the previous page, those are totally miscaled. The tires are, in reality, the same dimensional width and only a inch in diameter in difference, so should be substantially the same size when the cars are situated side by side.

herr_oberst 03-04-2024 06:18 PM

I measured the width of the rear tires (18.3mm and 23.3mm) and scaled a copy of the early car to the larger width tire (127.3%)

Hmmm, he’s married and her boss. I get that an affair probably happened and she was a participant, but continually asking for dirty pics sounds sad and pathetic. They cleared him but if they weren’t a winning team, would he still be there?

Two different issues/allegations . First one is possible tampering with race results at 2023 Saudi race by over ruling the Alonso penalty .

The one I posted is an allegation he tried to sway Las Vegas race to not be certified to run due to alleged safety concerns .

Am I wrong ?

cockerpunk 03-06-2024 05:28 AM

honer's toast. and he probably should be. 80% of his job is keeping newy and max on the team, and if he isnt doing that, hes gone in a heartbeat.

and good riddance, he always seemed entirely too squeaky clean ... no doubt he abused his power with a subordinate sexually. they should probably consider prosecution.

They're toast. I hope I'm wrong but I fear they're toast and should focus on their WEC team and making more street cars instead - that, they do well. Now they gotta spend $$$ and time developing a bad car faster than the other teams to catch up, compensate for an engine that is 15 hp down (and frozen I believe), and prep for 2026 regs? Meanwhile people getting fired, people are leaving, and I doubt anyone "in demand" would willfully choose Alpine as a future employer over, say, McLaren or Mercedes or Ferrari. Both Gasly and Ocon (managed by Toto) have applied for the Mercedes drive. Even Lance is laughing now asking Fernando if he's glad he left Alpine ;-) Ironically the car is not "that" bad time wise, faster than last year and just starting development, it's just that they did not improve like the rest and the midfield is super close now. Maybe the Ryan Reynolds of the world finally made a bad investment ? Maybe they'll sell to Andretti ?

Captain Ahab Jr 03-06-2024 03:37 PM

Bob Bell is an awesome engineer thoroughly pleasant guy, a rare combo in F1 and joy to work with

He never seeks the headlines and has been instrumental winning championships with McLaren and Senna, Renault and Alonso and pointing Mercedes in the right direction for their run of world championships

Aston Martin just bought themselves a huge step towards winning a world championship, Alpine have lost all hope of ever winning a race

Really sad considering Ryan Reynolds just invested ☹️

As for Aston, Stroll senior should step up, grab Sainz, but sadly that means demoting his son. Which wins, business or family?

Maybe Carlos replaces Alonso?

Why Alonso is a contender, I’m actually surprised Lance isn't doing better, but from a business standpoint, I know what I would do…

As a Canadian I am sad
