He has been embarrassingly slow. He needs to go back down to F3 and start over.

I would not be surprised if Logan gets a seat in Indycar next year .

OK, granted he's been outqualified by Albon at every single race thus far (in 1.5 seasons), but the guy has also outqualified Perez about 7 or 8 times. That doesn't necessarily mean he deserves one of the 20 seats in F1, but I don't think he's as gawdawful as you make him out to be.

Unless Williams can pull a rabbit out of a hat next year I think Carlos should have held out for Audi. I’m sure they will bring their best skills into racing in F1, and the Williams car isn’t going to be there. Albon has done the best he can but the car isn’t there and I don’t think it will be for years to come, imho.

Now the real question is who does Toto get for a second driver?

No doubt he is a better driver than I ever was. Perez seems to have a on off switch and on occasions does great, then it gets turned off, and he dives like a beginner. He is consistently passed during the race.

That razor edge of getting it right every time is a real challenge, and few men can do it.

Must be a challenge for both Checo and Logan to be beaten most every time, day in and day out by their teammate.

I’m sure most things at these two teams are favoured to the number one and the number two has to make best of it. The job of the best of teams is to make the car suit each driver. Looking like Merc and McLaren are doing that better now.

Who’s out a Williams?

Mario Isola (Pirelli) said yes to both.. It's entirely possible the tires lost that much because of the extra wear and also possible to pick up about <400grams per corner, had it been another track with time to do so.. There may have been enough "clag" outside turn 1 to make it at least "close" but George was possibly super excited - and not thinking that may be an issue. Too bad for him, he deserved it.

This is still the most astounding statistic to me. This is something that should not be.

He is only a second rate driver compared to the rest of the F1 field of drivers. No doubt he has some talent, just not true F1 level.

If this story is accurate WOW who interfered ??? This article says RB made the decision to let Checo go . They informed the Verstappen family of the decision . Then a total reversal of that decision . Hmmmmmmm ???

Best to ignore rumor in F1 news I think.

rfuerst911sc 07-31-2024 10:05 AM

Then there's this story .

This is a big deal for Audi and a loss for Red Bull .

One of my wiser career moves, could see where Alpine was headed so I bailed before it all kicked off when all the good people started leaving

100% convinced Flavio has been brought to get the team into shape so Renault can sell it in the next year or two

There is a "crazy" set of connections between Alpine F1, Kato Kaelin and USA gymnastics.

Some interesting tweaks to the rules over the summer break that suggest there was a gray area...

The FIA is banning asymmetrical braking (left/right) on F1 cars.. basically brake steer to help rotate the car and also stick the diffuser closer to the ground in some cases... That was not explicitly banned before, and will be, starting at Zandvoort - and it's highly likely some teams were using it, especially places like Austria that's mostly right turns where McLaren was really good. It will be interesting to see if any team appears to have lost a step next race.

Another tweak comes from Sainz stuffing his car in the wall in China and creating a red flag but still being able to rejoin qualifying despite causing this situation. No more, if the driver needs physical help, he will not be allowed to rejoin quali...

Finally a penalty received in a sprint race will be applied to the main race if it was not served during said sprint. (Alonso in china also)

On Mercedes being underweight - more clarifications from the team... Lewis and George's car were barely 500 grams apart after qualifying... So whatever happened was 100% during the race and tire wear based primarily + lack of marbles pickup as we all guessed.. But also plank wear caused by the above worn tires (lowering the car slightly) contributed... Tire wear, plank wear, brake wear, oil being burned, even the pilots lose weight ;-) Only George was under weight, Lewis' car with less worn tires was fine and the plank wear was much higher on Russell car. They've also asked Pirelli to supply a scale of tire weight loss as they wear out as useful data for the future.

I was accepted to work the 2024 Las Vegas race. Next steps are to sign the waiver and independent contractor agreement which tells me my job.

stealthn 08-06-2024 09:04 PM

Cool, Vegas will be my first F1 this year, giddy as a school boy lol

I believe this was about 5 years ago, before ground effects.
The delta would likely be even greater today.
