Like a really expensive game of chicken.

he deserves the blame for it IMO since he was back
and in the blind spot.
His responsibility to correct and avoid collision.

Video evidence and analysis provided by people who actually drove F1 cars suggest otherwise.

Perez held his line, as required, and, unfortunately, Carlos drifted from the wall.

The FIA saw it as a racing incident, and for a change, they got that correct.

"unnamed sources" who know more about F1
and that incident than the stewards.
OK then

Was there. PER drove a very good race until he found himself behind SAI. In my view it pissed him off and into a rookie move. Don’t care what the stewards say, after Abu Dhabi 22 I’m sure Red Bull has $$$ in their game. Just saying.

PER should get a 10 place penalty for being stupid. This is dangerous high speed racing that requires some sense of humility. PER showed a complete lack of judgement

BTW Baku is a beautiful and epic track

Totally agree with your assessment. PER was behind and not willing to give up the position. In the overhead you can see his tire get almost all in front of Sainz' left rear and when the LR of Sainz touched PER's tire it sent them both hard left.

I'm still having a hard time understanding why RB renewed his contract.

I find this season fascinating not just for the close racing but watching the freefall of RedBull... I'd seen teams miss the boat on technical reg changes, but they started the year dominating and are in freefall now...Amazing !

Horner was never "easy to like" as some say, but what a comeuppance this year...
They've been mired in Hornergate, had internal fights for control between H and Marko, lost Adrian Newey, will probably lose Verstappen first exit clause he gets, and apparently (from press) a lot of high up RB folks are applying elsewhere because working there is pretty unappealing these days. Yikes... Can't say I'm too sorry after years of listening to that smug Horner comments post races... I much prefer Vasseur and Toto in terms of honesty.

Also, Calopinto in the points in a wiliams - had never heard of him but looks like "for a pay driver", he's actually pretty decent.

Perez could have won that race if not held up behind Albon then Norris (on purpose), nvm tangling with Sainz. He was way ahead of Max, what on earth is going on with that car all of a sudden??? Apparently his car was pretty damaged (floor etc) and it's a short turnaround to Singapour with parts needing flying from England so that's probably not helping them prepare..

And bearman again !! Ahead of Hulk ! Who misses Kmag ?

After watching Q1 and Q2 I am of the opinion that Riccardo and Perez will be replaced . Too much good young talent is sitting on the bench .

Great qualifying!

Tough track. Is it me or are all the rear spoilers different on the track? They all look so square versus the curvy ones on the road courses. How do they follow regs with different spoilers?

Cheers

GH85Carrera 09-21-2024 10:44 AM

Interesting qualifying. That has to be a tough track. Just 80 miles from the equator, so HOT and humid and in a cramped hot car, pulling 5G. I can't imagine pushing too the limits and missing the walls by inches at insane speeds.

I bet amusement park rides are really boring to the drivers.

rfuerst911sc 09-21-2024 11:12 AM

I thought the monitor lizard taking a stroll on the track was a nice touch :D

Did you see the marshal chasing that dude? That lizard was fast! It had surprising speed.

He was faster than Stroll.

rfuerst911sc 09-22-2024 05:56 AM

Dominant performance by the winner . Max did well for second . Riccardo gets fastest lap on potentially his last race in F1 . Collapinto seems to be the real deal . Piastri continues to impress . Monitor lizards not a factor in the race 😁

GH85Carrera 09-22-2024 09:10 AM

The race was interesting. The driver's championship is getting tighter. It will be ironic if the Pistari two wins is the difference between Max and Lando at the end.
