Cadillac buy Renault F1 engine division https://thejudge13.com/2024/10/16/cadillac-buy-renault-f1-engine-division/

Before anyone laughs at the above, quick reminder Renault engines got 12 constructor World championships with mostly Williams, Benetton and Redbull I believe.. They used to make THE engine and while they got it wrong with the hydrid change, they were bound to correct that eventually. The rumors at Viry (the engine factory that got recently closed down/repurposed by CEO Luca Di Meo) is that the 2026 engine prototype was doing "pretty damn well and matching all expectations so far" - not something they ever said about the last model, and everyone was super frustrated it never got a chance. Well, looks like Cadillac may have done something smart here buying the IP rights for that motor. IF they can get in. A lot of the engineers are already interviewing at Ferrari because Fred used to work at REnault and he knows to grab the good people..

The technical relationship of Haas & Toyota is supposed to bring forth a next gen F1 simulator.
This is a change from their plug & play approach for their cars.
Is this the leverage that gets them to the next level?

Rtrorkt 10-18-2024 06:12 AM

Was this tech an advantage to RB or just, as they say, making it easier to adjust the floor height with the car apart?

Interesting sprint race qualifying results . Both Haas cars show pace . Colapinto much higher than Albon . Max gets pole with Russell nipping at his heels . Hopefully the race is exciting .

There is something amiss about Norris and Sprint race weekends.
Hopefully, tomorrow is a different day.

I imagine this is one happy kid ! Ten years old and joins an F1 driver academy . Nice to see a young American being recognized for his talent . I hope the kid keeps his nose clean and continues to progress .

Yea, they looked good. Some hard racing between the Ferrari drivers.

Perez continues to disappoint.

I am looking forward to see if Max can out battle Lando for the win . Max was on pole position pace when Russell ate the tire wall . It would appear Red Bull mods have corrected previous chassis issues .

Haas scored points yesterday and have pace . Hopefully they can turn that into more points today . Ferrari battle is one to watch , Carlos has nothing to lose . Alpine had some pace yesterday where did that come from ? Hard to judge where Mercedes is at . Same for Williams and RB . Sauber continue in the toilet .

More about the kid....

Wow Lewis Hamilton screwed up ! It was a solid two laps 😆

Great race to watch . I think McLaren will understand they made a mistake not telling Lando to give back the position. On pace he might have repassed Max .

Hulk/Lawson/Collapinto get points ! Good stuff . If Lawson continues with today's performance he will replace Perez next year .

Lando had no choice but to go wide given where Max put him.

Sublime win for Charles. Dream race for Ferrari.

BS call on NOR. VER also went off track to push NOR out. It was a whiny, desperate move. VER should have gotten a penalty or no penalties

stealthn 10-20-2024 06:52 PM

Great race, glad to see Ferrari coming back.

They really have to get their rulings better on pushing someone off, time penalty, no calls, blatantly forcing off and going off two. Kinda made the race subjective…

In Verstappen's case, it was a track limits violation. In Norris' case, he went off the track to pass.

I agree with Toto on this one:

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff accused the Formula 1 stewards of bias after Max Verstappen went unpunished for running Lando Norris off the road in the United States Grand Prix.

Twice Verstappen and Norris came to blows and wound up off of the asphalt, the first instance coming at lights out when the Red Bull driver dove up the inside of his McLaren rival at lights out.
Both cars went to the run-off, allowing Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc to sweep through and take victory.

On Lap 52, Verstappen went to the track limit and beyond again with Norris, this time at Turn 12 and the McLaren title challenger was handed a five-second time penalty for passing his contender off of the circuit.
Wolff took issue with the stewards’ handling of the situation, especially incensed thanks to George Russell receiving a five-second penalty for forcing Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas wide at Turn 12.
“Total joke with the penalty George, total joke,” Wolff said to Russell mid-race following the stewards’ verdict.
The Austrian’s tempers continued through to the cooldown lap, as he and Russell pondered over the Lap 1, Turn 1 scuffle between Verstappen and Norris.
“Did Verstappen get a penalty for that Turn 1?” Russell asked.
“No, he didn’t get a penalty and at the end Lando got a penalty for being forced off and overtaking on the outside,” Wolff replied.
“I guess it’s a bit biased decision-making but not surprising.”

Great race weekend
Nice to see 4 teams with a chance to win any weekend, but F1 starting to feel like Nascar; clean air is king

Why was Norris off track?

This whole issue with Max following the letter of the law regarding "ahead at the apex" only by completely abandoning any attempt at actually making the corner, forcing his opponent off track, needs to be closed.

^^ this. VER is a baby who can’t really stand the heat. If he had actually tried to stay within the regulations, he would have given NOR a car width on the outside. VER is back to his old whiner ways.
