On a Reddit forum, a number of commenters thought the theft was to obtain the super-efficient controllers/electronics, as they have reputation for using much less power. Cordless angle grinder using a cutoff wheel. The lines are clean. Four cuts.
Then pried open with crowbar.
They were pro dismantlers, ie chop shop, and knew exactly where the parts were to take.
Probably one guy. Less than 5 min.

The only upside is that the entire car wasn't taken, or that there weren't more guys working on the rear and interior.
