Neighbor Fence Question

Last year, I posted about a house on my block. https://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/1139431-weird-new-owners-across-street.html

The house in question is the one on the left in the photo below. It's been a year since the house was purchased by the current owner. It had been remodeled/flipped by a contractor before the current owner. Although everything (save the foundation, framing and interior/exterior walls) was new, the new owner(s) decided it wasn't to her liking. She has spent the last year (no joke) with an endless stream of workmen to put her personal touches in the place. It hasn't bugged me much, but I know many of the surrounding neighbors have grown tired of all the construction work going on for this absentee owner. She would just breeze in every once in awhile in her Lamborghini Urus to supervise the renovations, and then leave.

The homeowner to the right (in the picture) even put up that white vinyl fence about 6 months ago to prevent Lamborghini neighbor's workmen from trampling her corner landscaping.

Yesterday, Lambo/annoying neighbor finally moved in. It's the first night anyone has slept in this effectively new house. Annoying neighbor asked fence neighbor if fence neighbor would take down the fence adjacent to annoying neighbor's driveway, as annoying neighbor cannot park her Urus in the driveway and open its door. It's partially hidden from this perspective, but annoying neighbor's yard has a cinder block wall (installed by the flipper contractor) that runs along the sidewalk (as depicted) and wraps around to run along the driveway to the front facade of the house. This prevents annoying neighbor from parking head-in and opening her car door. So she tried backing in her Lambo, but then realized she still couldn't open her door die to the vinyl fencing. Perhaps she bought (leased) the wrong Lambo. The moment I saw flipper contractor installing that wall along the length of the driveway, I commented to Mrs. Noah that it was a stupid idea for exactly this problem.

If you were fence neighbor, what would you do? Fence neighbor (who is a really nice and reasonable person) has been irritated at annoying neighbor (in absentee) for many months already. This is really pissing her off, now. But fence neighbor is a nice person. Is there an amicable way for this to be resolved? Annoying neighbor has already indicated that money is not an issue in resolving this fence issue.

Annoying should get the cinderblock wall shortened. It's not for neighbour on the right to make considerations for her mistakes. If she was to take the fence down down to allow doors etc to open, the next thing will be kids walking over the garden flattening plants. And a whole lot of "The kids didn't mean to..." and "How do you know it was us who stomped all over your garden."

Lambo take down her own fence.

No, the answer is to paint it baby poo yellow.

Annoying Lambo owner needs to electrify the gate and drive all the way into where the garage is. People who park on their driveway near the sidewalk end are not only asking for trouble, but it looks tacky. And it prevents the neighbor on the right to be able to see a kid screaming down the sidewalk on a skateboard when they are leaving.

We have issues like that in our neighborhood but no one has the sense to understand. Cars should at least be back at the set back if they must park on the driveway.

Worse, we get people who park across the sidewalk. For hours.

Lambo owner has the ability to solve their own problem. Take down that wall. (Didn't Ronald Regan make that a famous statement?)

URY914 02-15-2024 10:53 AM

So Lambo lady didn't see this being a problem months ago?
This is her problem not fence lady's.
I would not move the fence.
She should remove the damn wall.

MikeSid 02-15-2024 10:54 AM

This answer is obvious and I doubt you'll get any contrary opinions in this crowd. An to be perfectly honest, this is not really a matter of opinion.

This is not vinyl fence neighbor's problem to solve. Lambo gal isn't entitled to the airspace over her neighbor's lot just so she can open her car door. Vinyl can be a super nice and accommodating neighbor if they want to be. But allowing that use of Vinyl's land, even if permissive and not adverse, is asking for long term trouble with Lambo gal.

Put a lift kit on the Lambo so the doors clear the wall.

KFC911 02-15-2024 11:12 AM

Ima gonna hafta see a pic of the Lambo lady before I give my answer :D.

Totally her problem that the flipper created and an easy solutuon too .... take down her own wall.

And don't budge one little bit .... as no good deed goes unpunished :D.

fintstone 02-15-2024 11:33 AM

Offer to sell the Lambo Lady a 1 or 2 ft strip the length of the driveway for a significant amount of cash...or simply say no. The audacity to ask her to remove the wall is amazing.

Lambo huh? Anything more than the run of the mill car here is parked in a garage. I guess the $500-600K 6,000 square foot house with a 3 or 4 car garage is not typical there.

stevej37 02-15-2024 11:38 AM

Owner of the vinyl fence...take it down and replace it with a 8' wood privacy fence.

KFC911 02-15-2024 11:42 AM

^^^^ That would block the 50' circular sprinkler I'd use .... those plants look thirsty :D

This is the best answer and the one that popped into my head as soon as I saw the thread title and before I clicked on it.

Bam, on both counts, but definitely on the first. Well, only if warranted.

mgatepi 02-15-2024 11:59 AM

First off, I thought people in Cali didnt like or want a wall. :)
Secondly, tell Lambo neighbor to move.

KFC911 02-15-2024 11:59 AM

I forgot how the "clown attorney" aspect went down ...

And I ain't searching either :D

Like the others have said it’s not the neighbor’s problem. I still haven’t gotten over the previous thread about the house costing $1.7 million!

Heck, property tax alone is almost $1800/month. That's a lot of money to pay for a house you're not living in.

wdfifteen 02-15-2024 01:13 PM

If the Lambo owner needs to open her car door over the neighbor's property, it follows that whomever is opening the door is going to have to walk on the neighbor's landscaping to get out of the car.
Sounds like removing the fence is just opening those two up to another problem. Lambo Lady is going to have to let her passengers out at the street or take down the block wall. It's a matter of being a good neighbor.

$1800 a month? For that dinky little house?

I think I must have missed the previous thread. $1.7M would get you A LOT of house here in the Houston area. I think even in the ritzy part of Houston a 1.7M home would be a fair amount of home and land compared to what's in the photo.
