Two years, it took to get to this point.

It's been 2 years already? Wow.

A slap on the wrist, really (if even convicted)...kinda sad.

I predict they both plead out to a lesser charge.

Hope they finish the movie....

Baldwin will never serve a day and he is the one most culpable.

Well, not quite. In actuality it’s only been 15 months. The shooting occurred in October 2021.

Still, 15 months is a effing long time to do an investigation like this.

The Synergizer 01-19-2023 09:25 AM

Baldwin should just do the time. It's what celebrities do for their resume. Maybe give him some new movie ideas.

I guess I'd agree it was involuntary manslaughter, regardless how stupid it was. He wasn't trying to kill her.

Probably plea down to negligent use of a deadly weapon, a petty misdemeanor. Of course, after a dog-and-pony show. Sentencing? 180 days maximum incarceration and/or a $500 maximum fine. Judge may suspend incarceration and/or fine. Looks like the AD made the right decision. Hope the AD has/will offer evidence on the matter.

Sooner or later AB will see the light and turn against HGR. AB and AD will offer testimony that HGR erred. Maybe HGR has an ace up her sleeve, something she can use to dirty AB if he turns. Lots of back room stuff going on, what with NM wanting to remain Hollywood friendly, AB wanting to preserve his position as an influencer, and HGR wanting to avoid jail time (her career is probably finished anyway).

Reminder to all: if handed a weapon it is your responsibility as to what happens with the weapon while it is in your possession. That responsibility cannot be delegated. That responsibility cannot be relieved asserting the person handing you the weapon said the weapon had no live rounds.

One of the people involved already plead guilty to that charge.

Not sure what the state of the incident classifies that crime as, looks like it may vary state to state.

940.24  Injury by negligent handling of dangerous weapon, explosives or fire.

(1)  Except as provided in sub. (3), whoever causes bodily harm to another by the negligent operation or handling of a dangerous weapon, explosives or fire is guilty of a Class I felony.

(2) Whoever causes bodily harm to an unborn child by the negligent operation or handling of a dangerous weapon, explosives or fire is guilty of a Class I felony.

see: 30-7-4(A)(3) NMSA 2011

Petty misdemeanor in NM. Up to 180 days in the can and/or up to $500 fine.

Upon arrest, AB will do an overnight in Santa Fe celebrity / special person jail. Will spend a few hours in processing, holding, and arrangement. Bail out early the next morning (like, 3am early - 'cause he's special). Dog and pony show. Eventual plea to negligent use sometime when the matter is all but forgotten. Time served, maximum fine (ball sweat to AB), and perhaps some PSAs on gun safety. Something like that is probably the best that the Santa Fe special prosecutor is probably hoping for. Maybe the best that AB could hope for. I'd take the deal, accept the penalty. Great publicity for AB rationalizing the whole matter as just unpleasant free marketing for Rust.

Spin it as, "See, I told you, guns are inherently dangerous and therefore should be taken away from you."

‘See, I told you, guns are inherently dangerous and therefore should be taken away from you, not me.’

I was wondering if anyone makes a "wad cutter" for the .45? Such could be mistaken for a blank.

The Synergizer 01-24-2023 03:37 PM

It doesn't matter.

Unless it helps explain how a live round got onto the set.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11684201/Rust-assistant-director-expected-testify-AGAINST-Alec-Baldwin-armorer.html

"The assistant director of Rust is expected to testify against Alec Baldwin when the star faces trial on charges of involuntary manslaughter following the shooting death of director of photography Halyna Hutchins on set in October 2021.

Prosecutors have secured David Halls' testimony in their case against Baldwin and Rust's armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, reports Variety. Baldwin accidentally shot-and-killed Hutchins after being given a loaded gun during filming.

Previous witnesses have said that Halls handed Baldwin the gun and that he declared it a 'cold gun' despite the presence of live ammo in the chamber, according to a search warrant. 'Cold gun' is a term used on sets to notify that live ammo isn't being used. ..."
