'Local' Things to do/eat while in DC seeing the Cherry Blossoms

Tapping into the brain trust on some suggestions for fun activities, notably places to eat, while is Wash DC for the cherry blossoms in a couple of weeks (supposedly the peak of the blooming season). We won't have a rental car, so using the public transit system as a proximity/convenience consideration. TIA.

I don't know where you are staying, but, The Wharf area has good lodging, food, and close to the river. It's a bit of a hike by foot to the mall, but there are shuttle buses available that run on a regular schedule.

All of the various museums. And find some of the off the path exhibits. We went to one museum which was nothing but portraits, huge numbers of people involved in the war for Independance and mostly forgotten.

I haven't been to DC in years, the metro (subway) system used to be fantastic... you could spend weeks at just the Smithsonian alone ... Invade the US Capitol So much to see there ... the monuments are a must! I walked up the Washington as a kid .... remember it like it was decades ago | ||

Great comments/questions. Staying in the Naval Yard area. I'm not that familiar with the area. Great question about the White House tour. I'll check. Got tickets (albeit free) for the Space and Air Museum on the Mall. Any 'shouldn't miss' while there? Thinking of the Vietnam memorial, perhaps the holocaust museum (been to Auschwitz - big impact on me). Appreciate your input guys.

If your wife likes dresses the American History museum. I love the natural History museum as well as obviously the Air and Space. The treasury is good. I bought a sheet of 4 x 8 dollar bills for a mere $37...

Awesome - keep 'em coming! Too funny about the dresses. Family member commented on the First Lady inaugural dresses display - hard pass for me!

Years back we made a trip in the early spring. Ended up buying jackets for half the folks - as we weren't expecting it to be so windy/chilly in the evening.

Also - download the Metro app for DC public trains - it's fantastic for routes/schedules/etc.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/dc-metro-and-bus/id578496721 I use it all the time. I generally park at a Metro stop on the beltway and metro in.

Old Ebbitt Bar and Grill is unique, close to White House, very good food, lots of history. As already mentioned Georgetown is great to walk.

Perfect. Purchased an unlimited 3-day Metro pass for wife and I. Appreciate the tip to download the Metro app. Staying within walkable distance to Metro station. Love the idea on Old Ebbitt Bar and Grill. Ciao.
