I used to have the dealership parts guy order my tires from Tire Rack (at cost) and stay late after work to mount and balance them. After retirement, the first time in 40+ years I had to pay retail prices for tires and pay someone to install them gave me heart palpitations. $$$

When the 40 year old tires on my BIL's farm wagon were cracking, I took the wheels to my guy who swapped them out for a set of used truck tires. $50.
I did not want to have a flat coming up out of the hay field.

Best

LOL!

I think I know a guy too, but I don't think he's ever scored any good tires.

Maybe "Bob" got his Ferrari tires used off of craigslist!

I try to find "take offs" at tire shops near car dealerships. I have bought high rubber used tires from used tire dealers on the net. When your model Pirelli is out of production and you damage one, that is the only recourse.

245/75-16's look like they're running around $150-175 ea. for decent quality.

I remember paying my local tire guy an even $600 in cash for the whole tamale. So it's gone up but for me doesn't look that bad.

$600 would be a great deal. I am using Coker nostalgia tires on the back of my truck. It has room for big fat tires and it would look odd with anything else. They have 35000 miles on them with maybe 5k left in them. Really did not expect to get 10k out of them so I cant complain. They still look pretty good but they get dangerous in the rain.

Theres a guy at my local flea market that sells nothing but used tires. I think he is the same guy that goes around and hauls tires away for shops and he just keeps the good ones. Lots of places will put on used tires because there are people who switch out snow tires twice a year

Pricing new tires is like watching the Petroleum Oil Barrel price fluctuate. Neighbor just had a new roof put on.........another petroleum priced product and was shocking what he paid

Free tires? They may need them, or it may be flipped.

Now, I got a set of new 20" Goodyears for my Alfa from Sam's club. About $700 all in. You just have to catch then when they have a special.

Just as a warning and observation:
Both sides of 2WD should be changed as a pair or differential damage could occur.

With 4WD, the possible damage is even more. Add in more components.

You will not be saving a buck there...unless you keep it under 25mph.
No daily highway.

Its not the shingles price that went up. Its the installation fee. I did half my roof about 6 years ago they were 35$ a bundle now they are $40. The problem is my a$$ is 6 years older
