When I lived in Italy, I used to go to San Remo Rally Legends, an event like nothing else I've been to

Group B cars, earlier rally cars like Strato's, Mk2 Escorts, M3's, 911's, A110's, Ascona's, Type 037's on gravel/tarmac roads on day and night stages going flat out, later WRC cars, even a few Dakar trucks where there was more room

What made it so special were the crazy Italian fans and the landscape was like a natural amphitheatre which just amplified the sound

One of my all time favourite motorsport events

Wow, that brought back some memories. This was right in my backyard. I only made it out one year before they shut it down. So, feeling all nostalgic, I googled it.
