My grandparents would never believe it!

There is a new strip store that recently opening up just up the road from my house.

They are a convenience store smoke shop & vape shop and they sell lottery tickets. They also sell gasoline. Next door, and technically a separate business is a liquor store, and now legally they can be open 7 days a week. Next door is a "medical" marijuana store. Just go to a local doc that specializes in it, and tell them you have headaches or backaches and $100 and here is your license to buy pot.

It is a one stop shop for all the legal vices.

I just wonder if they are going to do off track betting for horse racing at Remington Park that is just over 8 miles away. It is legal with the right licenses.

All they need now is an "escort" service.

When Prohibition was repealed in 1933, it did not affect Oklahoma as we had state wide prohibition. Now alcohol can be purchased 7 days per week. The lottery, and horse racing are legal. Pot is legal, and THE largest casino on the planet is in Oklahoma. Casinos are everywhere, but not quite as numerous as pot stores.

I have yet to stop in and see the beer selection, but it is on my to do list. I can't care less about liquor, pot or the lottery. It is a top tier gasoline store so I may buy my gas there.

Good point..about the only vice Govt. isn't into these days is prostitution. However, there are plenty of elected folks who are prostitutes!

Recreational pot sales are legal here. I am not a user, but I've been in a couple stores here.
Prices are about double of what your local friendly dealer has available.

The BATFE should be a convenience store not a government agency

When my grandparents were young, you could buy a full auto Tommy Gun for $120 in the JC Penny catalogue and have it delivered to your front door. A better, vanished time.

Yea, but alcohol was illegal in Oklahoma. The bootleggers were busy. My dad even talked about calling a phone number and ordering what he wanted, and it was delivered to his door in short order. Lots of speakeasys everywhere. Finally the new Oklahoma County Sheriff was elected, and he enforced the law, and arrested many judges, and rich and powerful people. That prompted to the legislature to change the constitution to allow booze. Still very restricted, and lots of corruption in the booze business.

Liquor by the drink was the next big thing. Approved by the voters in 1984. Just in 2018 they finally got rid of 3.2 beer and allowed beer and wine sales in convenience stores and grocery stores.

:Lots of arrangements like that. I used to drive up I-15 past a large retirement commuinity (Sun City? I'm not sure of the name now,) Across from there & slightly past it on the other side of the freeway, you would pass a small hospital, then a geriatric facility, then a funeral home, and finally a KFC. I used to joke the drivers would dtop people off at the hospital, then take them to the old peoples' facility, and finally to the funeral home, and stop at KFC for a snack at the end.

I don't know if this new strip contains what you would think of as unrelated businesses but that seem to be a thing in AL when I lived there. It became our little joke. Outside of Talladega there was a single building on the side of the country road that had a double sign:

Plumber
___________
Taxidermist
